It's a good place to study and do work Coffees are reasonably priced It's easily accessible by public transport or walking They have escalators and elevators You can switch most devices they have to English if you don't speak enough Dutch There are enough power plugs if you're working with a laptop.
People are talking and laughing freely, if you're looking for a quiet place to work this is not the place for you Printing is not as straightforward. You have to buy a voucher to get a pass to use any device in the library for 15 minutes + pay the fee of the printing, and then you have to login to the library computer with your voucher, then send the document you want to print to your own email, then access the email through the library computer, then download it and then open the document and click the print button in pdf/word (depending on your type of file). While the instruction in the computer is to open an easyaccess website to print but this website has actually nothing to do with how to print your document other than seeing your printing progress. I find it unnecessarily confusing and frankly inaccessible that they don't have this explanation in their website. There's gotta be a more efficient way to do this...
Read moreA library can have many shapes, but it must be a quiet place. Instead, this is a loud place. There are teenagers doing homework in the afternoon. They talk loudly and run around. I've never experienced anything like this in my life, after seeing libraries all over the world. Staff does not care at all. Exemplary punishment through expulsion (there is security) would suffice, but this is not done. I've seen security walk the floors just ignore loud students. Why?
The top floor was recently renovated. It used to be a dedicated quiet floor. Now it's a cafe, and they reduced heavily seats available. Why did they take away the only quiet place? To fulfill someone's vanity project?
There are no quiet places left in The Hague. Almost nobody respects quiet coaches in the train. Youngsters play music in the tram or the bus from their phones. Even in the cinema I commonly have to deal with people loudly munching crisps or rolling beer bottles on the floor....
Read moreI’m writing this in English so that everyone can understand it Update: I was setting near the window in the second floor working and focused and then a man/worker from the library came out of nowhere freaked me out by shouting “Can you move your bag from the chair so someone else can use the chair” First of all he freaked the hell out of me and second of all what an awful way to tell someone to move their bag by shouting at them that even the people around me noticed him shouting. I swear this is the last time I’m coming to this bad place and I will never give them another chance!!! Awful service, clumsy people and the workers would never do anything about the noise but complain about using two chairs...
