Paihia Beach is a lovely, soft-sand beach right in front of the town, making it an easily accessible and relaxing spot to enjoy the Bay of Islands. Unlike the shelly beach at Russell, this one has fine, soft sand, perfect for sunbathing and strolling. The beach is well-equipped with changing rooms, toilets, and a beach shower, plus a fun swimming platform just off the shore. There’s plenty of shade, making it ideal for families, though it can get quite busy during weekends and holidays when the weather is good. The location is fantastic, close to the town centre, pubs, and some great spots to enjoy fish and chips by the water. While most areas are kid-friendly, it’s important to be mindful of the currents in some spots. I spent 5 days at this wonderful hotel room 403 top floor with beautiful view of the bay. Everything is clean and tidy. The staff are very accommodating from the care of the room, to reception and Glaashouse restaurant. The chef prepares delicious meals served beautifully, and the manager Jesse is friendly and make’s wonderful Lattes. I had trouble on my iPhone booking a flight back to Auckland and the receptionist Sia not only got me the flight I wanted but also called arranged a taxi. All the receptionists were friendly and helpful! BTW getting taxis from the airport to the hotel should be booked in advance! All in all I highly recommend this hotel and the Glasshouse restaurant !!
