Edgewater Palms Apartments — Hotel in Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community

Staff friendly and helpfull but it goes down hill after that. I've travelled all over both islands in the past four weeks and NZ idea of 5 star is far from it. Five star is hot running water all day not untill the tank is empty so my wife has to shower in cold water. Under floor heating did not work and fixtures and fittings showing there age. You have to wash the things you use or you will be charged, that is not five star and to top it off the wi-fi was non existent. Had to use wifi next door in resturant as it was a stronger signal. Was informed by staff they would look into but i feel that is said every time someone complains. I need wifi for my living and theirs was crap! Apart from that good view and parking. P.s. arobics is held in underground carpark! If you're ever in Auckland stay at the Sofitel hotel now thats five star. The averave kiwi's idea of 5 star is a toaster and a heated blanket. Rooms where good but we had booked an ocean view appartment, which we did not get and we had stayed in apparments before where there were basic house keeping.. but not in this one..

We stayed 2 days and no came for cleaning .

Apart from that.. we were charged wrongly for keeping couple of dishes unwashed.. they said we should have cleaned the whole appartment before handing over to them.. ( which we felt was not reasonable as we cannot clean everything and give it to them..and secondly they should have mentioned this rule while check in). For this they did not have the coutsey to call us and let us know, and without prior notice they deducted a charge..without giving us proper information..

Purpose of staying at appartment is to get full kitchennet so that we can cook our food.. there were also major restrictions on cooking as well

So in all not a good service by the team there..!!

Booked a two bed apartment with pool view but was disappointed on how dated it was and the bathrooms need a lot of revamping. It was certainly not as nice as images portrayed, nothing luxury about it apart from the price. Second room very small and only a slit window. Didn’t have a bedside by bed in lounge and even though paid for five adults, they only had room set up for 4 people. Had to get extra chair for dining table and used a tea towel for a table mat as they didn’t have one. Pool was ice cold and TV isn’t that new as couldn’t get apps on it which is quite standard these days. Noisy bar on corner and not sure what to call the accommodation at back (could be emergency accommodation). I can say the receptionist was friendly. Weather didn’t help as it meant we were in the room more than usual but if this was half the price I may have given...
