Whaka Geothermal Trails — Attraction in North Island

A must do, very strange experience.

Once you get past the smell, the trails are like going into another world.

From small mud pools, to small lakes of crystal blue, steaming water - it's a unique experience well worth going to.

We were stuck in a pretty wet day, however for us, it made the experience...

We purchased tickets for a stunning walking trail, eager to witness the geysers highlighted on the map within the ticket centre. Unfortunately, we later discovered that geyser viewing areas are exclusive to guided tours. This lack of clarity left us feeling misled, making the price...

The trail is nice. You can spend an hour or so wondering around the hot lakes and mud pools.

The fact it costs $30 is not so nice. There are better trails around town for less money.

And this doesn't even get you access to the rest of the village...
