Embers & Ashes — Restaurant in Christchurch

We dined at Embers and Ashes this evening with a booking at 6:45pm. We ordered the kids meals straight away with it being such a late booking for our family, expecting to be able to place the rest of our order shortly after. Unfortunately, the server did not return for quite some time, we had to ask twice before someone finally took our order.

After that, we waited an additional hour for our meals to arrive. In total, we were there for over two hours just to be served three adult meals, which is a big ask when dining with three young children.

When we expressed concern about the excessive wait times, we were told it was due to an issue with the dockets, the server’s mistake she said “sorry that’s on me”. The meals, when they finally arrived, were lukewarm and certainly didn’t justify the high price. On top of that, my daughter’s fries were so overcooked they were crunchy and drenched in fat. Halfway through her meal, she noticed a small hair on the plate, which we didn’t even bother mentioning but it was extremely off putting.

Sadly, after expressing my disappointment again when paying the bill, I wasn’t compensated in any way, just given a verbal apology, which, in my opinion, is not good enough. Disappointing experience overall, and I won’t...

Lovely evening @ Embers & Ashes with my boys. The restaurant atmosphere is TOP QUALITY, you nailed the layout and detail this was well above and beyond my expectations. The service was great, we were fortunate enough to have the owner as our waiter tonight in which he was very bubbly, outgoing and friendly this always makes the visit that bit nicer to have a friendly face on approach. The food in a whole was served hot, fresh and mostly well cooked. Our son got the typical burger and fries - top hit from him! We shared a platter and fries, the tacos are TO DIE FOR 🫠 The pork rib was the only let down for us very tough, not falling off the bone (very not me) but this hasn’t deemed my experience tonight. Overall, so impressed with our visit! I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes 🤤

A little bit on the price side but definitely well worth it in my experience.

Well hidden gem in the heart of Addington, which is our local. P.s your road signage is very little to notice and I drive that road regularly .. we only noticed your business on ticktock ❤️
