Takahe Statue — Attraction in Fiordland Community

You can't miss this Takahe Statue if you are coming into the Te Anau town centre, it is just by the junction of the main road. Some may thought this is just another town icon, but Te Anau is indeed the only place on earth you can find wild Takahe. In fact, this statue was erected in recognition of the region’s contribution to takahe recovery efforts.

Can't miss this beautiful statue in town. However, do yourself a favour and see the real one a few minutes drive at the Bird Sanctuary. Would be really sad that one day the only thing left for the bird...
