I couldn’t believe it when I saw this company had five stars because that’s so rare, but they are LEGIT!!! The staff is so friendly and nice with also being kiwi chill- plus you get free drinks at the end. We did the boat + bike ride and it was a challenging gravel ride, BUT so stunning and fun, we definitely felt like we earned our wine. If you don’t love biking up hills I think you should try one of their top notch electric bikes, they looked beautiful and we wished we had time to try them: But we enjoyed the challenge and worked up quite a sweat. It was nice that the bike trail was mostly in the shade, but still… sunscreen up! If you are biking bring more water than you think you need and pack a picnic, there were so many cute places to stop, super scenic, the whole ride is by the lake! About 10k from the jetty but we choose to go to rainbow area to the bride which is another 5k so we did 20k total and it took us about 2 hours and 15 mins to bike. The boating was awesome!!!! Our boat driver was skilled and knowledgeable and told us all sorts of cool fun facts. I loved that it wasn’t just a boat ride but also a nature walk with facts about trees, culture, leaves, history, lake water, lord of the rings, and hiking! The gear, bikes and bus were all very high quality and they even offered sunglasses and sunscreen! We had such a nice chat with Abby and Chris afterwards, they are wonderful and clearly really care about their guests and travelers in general, so nice to connect with some true locals (yes Abby, 7 years makes you a local to me) Highly reccomend, we had so much fun and this was a highlight...
Read moreHow I wish google gave me an option to rate something beyond 5 stars and highlight an exceptional customer service and experience. Not just the Fiordland jet and but the staff has to be one of THE BEST that my family and I have come across our trip in NZ. We never had the jet boat ride planned and were strolling past the lake prior to our Glow worm tour that was scheduled three hours later. We happened to bump into Chris who genuinely recommended us (family of 2 adults, 1 kids, 1 infant) to try the jet ride. No upselling at all and we felt the vibe as to someone who doesn’t want you to miss an out of the world experience. Chris guaranteed that we will be dropped back in time for the glow worm tour. What happened next was really the best experience which I honestly haven’t come across for years from a customer service perspective. Chris had completed our glow worm tour check in and had the tickets ready. We reached the wharf on time where the cruise was already waiting for us and we were the last to board. Chris not only handed us the tickets but picked our car, parked it in a secure parking lot, dropped the keys in the jet office collection box and gave us instructions on how to collect it once we are back. I am honestly blown away to the extent where the jet boat experience was a total package. As to the actual jet ride - it was out of the world. I would highly recommend it to every one who stops by Te Anau to give this a go and you will leave the place with a big smile and a very...
Read moreOur Fiordland Jet experience was an absolute highlight of our trip to New Zealand’s South Island. From start to finish, it was thrilling, informative, and family-friendly in the best way.
Our boat captain, Alex, truly made the day unforgettable. Her deep knowledge of the local flora and fauna, combined with an obvious passion for the region, brought the landscape to life in a way we didn’t expect. Her enthusiasm was contagious—my boys (ages 8 and 6) were completely hooked, and so were we!
The jet boat ride itself was a total blast—fast, fun, and perfectly safe, even for younger kids. The provided outerwear kept us all toasty warm despite the brisk air on the water, and the views were breathtaking. Gliding through filming locations from The Lord of the Rings was surreal, and the quick stop ashore to walk and taste local edible plants was a surprise highlight—hands-on and memorable.
A quick tip: the handrails are heated, but I'd still bring gloves if your hands tend to get cold. In any case, they’ve got you covered. Also, make sure your camera or phone is secured—there are a lot of photo-worthy moments!
We left with huge smiles and a deeper appreciation for Fiordland’s wild beauty. My entire family wholeheartedly recommends Fiordland Jet—especially with Alex at the helm—as a must-do activity...
