Rude, probably illegal conduct, do not answer their phone, and when you select an option that does get answered you are speaking to someone in Australia who doesn't know anything about the store you have issues with. I did however eventually get through to the store manager, Daniel.
My daughter visited the Henderson Kmart this morning along with my 3 year old granddaughter.
She was looking at purchasing a bicycle and my grand daughter was riding it. They moved out of the bike area and my daughter told my granddaughter she had to get off it . As she was saying this a staff member (Wendy) approached and addressing my 3 year old grand daughter (not her mother) with an attitude and no explanation, simply took the bike off her.
Wendy then turned around and saw another preschooler holding a skateboard. She physically removed the skateboard from the child, saying again "I'll have that". Both parents were dumbstruck by this behavior.
When asked for an explanation Wendy claimed she was a member of the health and safety committee and it was a safety issue. When I complained to the manager Daniel, he took the same ridiculous stance.
He also claimed it was perfectly acceptable for his staff members to physically remove items from children for 'health and safety' and tried to insinuate that the parents were not present and monitoring their children (in both cases they were standing right next to them).
He had clearly been pre-primed by Wendy for my call because he used exactly the same phrases she did when my daughter challenged her on it.
Everyone makes mistakes, and Daniel had an opportunity, by his actions, to have this review be a positive one. Sadly he decided to...
Read moreNegative click & collect experience: The staff member on duty was very rude.
On arrival at the fitting room desk I warmly greeted him & he did not even bother to say hello back, in fact he seemed annoyed I was there. I stated I’ve come for my click & collect order & still he didn’t speak a word - no instructions, nothing - luckily I knew that he needed to scan the barcode in my email, so I held it out for him to scan. Still not a word spoken from him. He then walked off with a trolley (again without a word) and I had no idea if I had to follow him or how long he’d take. He still hadn’t spoken a single word. He then came back with the items & stopped the trolley in front of me - no smile and still no words spoken at all. I felt annoyed at this point, but politely said - “is this all of it?” and finally he said “yes, your receipt is on the box”.
That was the only thing he spoke in the whole service interaction. How rude!
I just came back from Aussie & I must say Kmart NZ is terrible compared to Aussie. • Customer service is horrible here (especially in Henderson ! St Luke’s is better though). • Ver messy stores - not well maintained. • Staff seem less willing to help/annoyed if you ask a question. • No click & collect ‘direct to boot’ service. • Little to no stock.
In Aussie I’d always do click & collect as it is usually easier than bringing my young baby through the shop. But every click & collect experience I’ve had here in NZ , is similar to this one in that the staff seem annoyed to have to...
Read moreI had a bad experience at this Kmart today. During a dog walk today I had a female period related emergency and rushed myself to Kmart to quickly grab some supplies as I’m not from the area and didn’t know where else to go. I found what I needed however when I went to ask to use a bathroom I was really disappointed with the lack of human decency from the staff members, particularly the manager, who I believe was just a stand in for the public holiday. She refused to let me use the bathroom originally because she said they didn’t have toilets, when I said I had already asked another staff member and they confirmed there were in fact toilets but I had to ask the manager, she admitted there are actually toilets but they are staff only. She could very much see I was in a very stressful, vulnerable situation. I quite literally had blood dripping down my legs, meanwhile my dog was just sitting in the car, I was desperate and I really tried to explain and show this, there was no room for embarrassment, I needed help from a stranger. She proceeded to tell me the real reason I couldn’t use the toilet was because it was blocked. I continued to explain I didn’t even need to use the toilet, I just needed somewhere to clean myself up privately to which she sent me out of the store and told me to ask the store next door.
I am beyond mortified from this experience. Great store, will always love Kmart, but find yourselves some staff members that actually look after their customers, kindness...
