Mount Maunganui Base Hiking Trail — Attraction in North Island

Use this access point adjacent to Maunganui Beach for easy access to the base trail, and to one of the lookout trails. The base trail is mostly flat and easy for anyone to hike, and offers some amazing ocean views. Hiking to the lookout is a must, though! The lookout trail can be steep in places, but there are plenty of stairs and steps to make the hike easier. You can hike to the lookout in 30 or 40 minutes.
