Black Peak Gelato — Attraction in South Island

We had Black Peak at our wedding in Wanaka on the 23rd of Jan. We knew this would be the perfect addition for a summer ceremony and it absolutely went down a treat. Not only do Jon and the staff at Black Peak make everything so easy, they are such a friendly bunch and always had a quick response for any questions that we had. And clearly we cannot over look the ice cream itself, what a quality product with an endless choice of flavours! We loved the concept of picking whatever ones we wanted and they were all delicious. This is a must have for any wedding in the South or if you ever pass by their stores you have to pop in...

Really nice gelato place with a decent variety of flavors. The flavors are updated daily, while you can get the serving in various sizes. The best part is that for a single scoop you can get two flavors priced only at $9, while an even smaller serving can be had using same service for a kids size priced at $6. The gelato is really good and the place is super busy, so often on a warm sunny day, there is a queue to get in. The service was really fast and the staff do a great job to serve you as soon as possible and with a smile. Worth a quick stop on your way to or from the Lakeside beach...

A good place for a gelato or shake in Wanaka is the Black Peak Gelato shop on Ardmore Drive (lakefront) facing Roy's Bay. Opening hours are 11am to 9pm daily.

Here you can expect friendly service and pretty good gelato. During our visit, we had a triple scoop of Hokey Pokey, Vanilla Bean and Pistachio, finding them all to be smooth, refreshing and good taste.

There is a wall menu with flavours just outside the shop as well as inside above the order counter. Expect a bit of a queue if visiting midday as there are not a lot of other options for a quick, gelato or ice-cream treat...
