We stayed overnight after driving down from Cardona. The driveway entrance is shared with the pub and there were a few spots where you could park on the driveway to check into the hotel. Check-in was easy since I had done an online booking. We did have to go back out to the main road to circle back to the parking lot behind the building. The parking lot was fairly large but the area labelled for the hotel was full so we went to the other side hoping the ticket we had was good for it.||There is access to the hotel from the carpark so you didn't have to walk all the way to the front. If you were heading upstairs there is also a set of doors by the parking lot to make the traverse shorter.||The rooms were quite clean and the view of the lake from the balcony was nice. The beds were comfortable and there were toiletries available. It was decently sized with an area for luggage so it wasn't in the way around the beds. The room had a fridge as well as a kettle. There were laundry facilities available for guest use as well for a price.||It was in a great location quite close to town and the lake. There was also a cafe (Scroggin), restaurant (Amigos) and bar (Bullock Bar) beside the hotel if you didn't want to go too far. there was also a kitchen by the parking lot but it was separate from the hotel through some covered pathways.||Although it was a bit bothersome having to lug baggage upstairs, the room was nicely sized and was quite comfortable with a decent WiFi signal. Check-in and out were quite easy. The parking was a bit full and it was only one way so it required a bit of a detour to get back onto the main road. Otherwise, the stay was quite nice with beautiful views and a nice...

Read moreI am absolutely appalled by the shockingly unprofessional and discriminatory behavior I experienced at this hotel. During my stay, I approached the front desk to request slippers - a basic amenity provided by many hotels. What happened next was completely unacceptable:
When I made my request, the front desk staff member pretended to have difficulty understanding me twice - despite my clear request After finally "understanding" my request, she simply said they didn't have any Most disgracefully, while I was still standing there, she turned to her colleague and said "WTF slippers?" in a mocking tone
This behavior is absolutely unacceptable on multiple levels: Openly mocking a guest's English pronunciation Using profanity about a guest while they are present Displaying discriminatory attitude towards non-native English speakers Complete lack of basic professional courtesy
For hotel staff to use profanity and mock guests IN THEIR PRESENCE is not just unprofessional - it's hostile and discriminatory. This type of behavior has no place in any service industry, let alone a hotel that claims to maintain international standards.
To the management: Your staff needs immediate training in: Basic professional courtesy Cultural sensitivity Appropriate workplace language How to treat guests with respect regardless of their language proficiency
I strongly advise non-native English speakers to reconsider staying at this establishment, as you may face similar discriminatory treatment. This incident goes far beyond poor service - it reveals a toxic attitude towards international guests that has no place in New Zealand's...
