Our wedding was held in late March at NZHC in Queenstown and it was outstanding. We used Tussocks Point for the ceremony and the amazing German made Wooden marquee for our reception at lake June. We chose NZHC for its capacity and it’s scenery with the hope it wowed our national and international guests. Our expectations and theirs were significantly exceeded.
Property owner Mike was amazing showing us around the entire venue and farm during our first visit and showing us items that were available to use on the day. Venue planner Samantha was a delight to deal with. Always replying to my numerous emails with good explanations and excellent ideas.
Sam helped co-ordinate the wedding rehearsal the day before and supported our MC and celebrant Throughout the day. We chose not to have an event planner as NZHC (Sam) advised she could work and co-ordinate amougst all the providers and bring everything together on the day and supported us to write a run sheet.
It was amazing, our wedding was flawless. When I walked down the aisle I noticed there were items I had hired wine barrels and umbrellas that were there, which I hadnt recalled discussing. Sam and Mike due to the heat of the day had decided to make the change and put the umbrellas at Tussocks point for the ceremony rather than down at the reception. It looked amazing and was definitely the best decision based on the day. My husband and I are so thankful we had such a great team to work with in Mike and Sam at NZHC - our 150 guests were well looked after and the best part was the views, hospitality and dancing on the amazing bar at the end of the night. I’d highly recommend this venue to anyone seeking a senic and rustic location. New Zealand High Country an amazing place with a unique touch! A huge thank you goes to Sam and Mike....
Read moreThe perfect private property for your wedding in Queenstown. From the first (and only) video call that we had with Mike, showcasing the beautiful ceremony venue that is Tussock Point (overlooking Lake Wakatipu, Remarkables and Cecil Peak) and the grand Lake June Marquee (offering complete privacy surrounded by mountain ranges), we knew this was where we wanted to get married. Mike was super responsive to all of our questions and requests. Lana and Mike were phenomenal on the day coordinating everything so that myself and my partner did not have to worry about a thing. It was a fun ride for our guests going up the mountain and taking in the views, noting you must hire an external company to bring guests up to the venue. At Lake June, we were wondering whether to hire the furnace and thank goodness we did as it definitely added to the atmosphere, giving another place for people to hang out later in the night. Everything ran so smoothly and I had no doubts that NZ High Country was going to deliver the wedding of my dreams, thank you Mike. Thing to note, it's a 'bare bones' venue so you will need to bring in your choice of vendors to come in and set up and cater for your ceremony and reception (the NZHC website provides preferred vendors). Tussock Point can get windy but Mike will let you know well in advance if it can go ahead, and if it does, it is the most spectacular view. Our guests absolutely loved both venues on the property and we received so many compliments on our great choice of wedding location. Thank you again Mike and Lana, and we wish you all the best for the next wedding...
Read moreWe had our wedding ceremony at Tussock Point at NZHC, we didn’t use the marquee at Lake June.
Absolutely stunning setting and scenery. Unfortunately our positive experience with NZHC ended there.
We had a full rehearsal two days before the wedding with Kylie present where a number of decisions were made regarding bridal/bridal party entrance and placement of the hired toilet. Kylie informed us at that point that she will not be present for the wedding day but will arrange for one of her colleagues (Sam) to coordinate the venue.
We turned up to NZHC on the wedding afternoon to find that Sam had received no handover. She was unaware of any of the plans we had made and she had placed the toilet exactly where we had planned for the bride to enter! We unfortunately had a number of further errors occur through our ceremony timeline directly due to the lack of handover.
Following the wedding, we provided feedback regarding our poor experience. Kylie responded and apologised for the lack of communication between herself and Sam. She was only able to state that due to personal reasons she was unable to provide a full handover of the day and only communicated with Sam through an email prior to our wedding. Sadly, there appeared to be no appreciation for the gravity of what such a lapse can mean for a...
