Addendum: Today again been there for lunch. Was informed that you can also sit outside with backrest (Oops, read my post?). Veggie burger was good and the sandwich with sausage exceptionally good. Food was even brought out.
Okay, I'm correcting to 5* for sunny days and 4* for rainy days. But today the sun was shining ☀️.
Nicer seating inside would still be a good investment - I'll stick with that.
I had only a small children's burger and that was already fantastic. I can only imagine how awesome the lunch with meat grilled on wood fire must be. Other burger places can learn a thing or two from this. 5*
The team is so personable. You know them only 5 minutes and you would already invite them to your home, for example for a garden barbecue. 5*
But the ambience... I first thought we were sitting at the children's table. Then I saw that all the tables were like this. I don't expect much, but a backrest is the least I need to relax during eating. Here there are only small stools. That's why I didn't go back in the evening. What a waste of potential! 2*
Good to know: There are two menus. Lunch is quite cheap, available until 4 pm. Meat made on charcoal is available...
Read moreI guess I'm just lucky. I ordered and paid for the pork belly. I was then later told it wasn't available today, the very friendly waitress then asked me to change the order, I asked what she recommended and was told the steak was good. I queried if it could be done at the same price as what I had already paid and she said it could. 10 minutes later we are being asked to pay the difference in price by a different waitress. I ask to then cancel and refund but I'm told its already been cooked so out of pity we paid the difference.
I'd have been fine if the steak was amazing, as a $33 steak should be. No. It was a steak that was tiny, was overdone, dry and chewy. It wasn't seasoned, it wasn't amazing, it was just a plain steak that was overcooked. This is the only time in 20 years I haven't finished a steak. The waitress asked how the meal was and we explained the steak was tough and overcooked and, well thats it, no recourse offered, just a 'I'll let the kitchen know'.
The brisket on the other hand is delicious. I'd give one star but the brisket brings it back up. Don't order the steak, order...
Read moreWe flew into Queenstown around lunch time, and it was recommended that we come to The Meat Preachers for lunch, and what a great idea that was! I will take this persons advice more often! I ordered the Beef Brisket sandwich - and as a fellow master of the coal and regular slow cooker myself, my expectations were high. Well, what can I say, I think it may be time for me to hang up my tongs - after eating this amazing sandwich, topped with the most delectable slices of tender and moist beef brisket, I feel like any future attempts of my own will just be an experience in disappointment! The beef was perfect, and the vegetable layers were fresh and very complimentary of the meat. The bread was fresh and crisp. And trust me - this was not a one off. My wife had the chicken wrap, and that was equally as impressive. Again, the freshest of produce was used here, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. I have recommended this place to plenty of people in my day to day life, and am happily doing the same...
