It’s was built to recognize Chinese emigres, but it probably the most poorly designed park in the Malecon. There’s nothing Chinese about it👎👎👎.
The focal point is a pergola that is a pseudo-pagoda👎👎👎…looks pretty from a distance but not quite the Buddhist nor Taoist design.
The so-called garden is even worst. There’s a very shallow pond, more like a hand washing pool, that is so overcrowded with Koi👎. The poor creatures must be boiling in it under the heat of the equatorial sun. Over this pond a “bridge”, more like 3- foot plank, that is made of hollow plastic resin.
Then there the small buddhas, plastic pandas and other trinkets👎👎👎👎👎… it is like a child’s toy land.
From the pavement above it, is a place to watch the sunset as is any other spot on...
