I stayed here for 3 nights.||The good:|• Location. Everything was very close by: grocery, pharmacy, ocean, restaurants...|• 24 hour desk: very practical for those arriving late.|• Cleaning: I had a private room and it was cleaned every day. They also changed the towel everyday which was a good thing since it never cried because of the humidity.|• Ana: she was there on Saturday and made us breakfast (eggs, bread, juice). She was just lovely. I needed to buy earplugs and an eye mask and she went online and found a store that would have it in stock. She was very attentive.||The bad:|• The hotel is an open concept so if you're window is inside, you're going to hear everything. I would've given 4 stars but on my last night (Sunday) the TV from the common room was on ALL NIGHT that it felt like my own TV was on. It was that loud. I don't know if it's the employee or a patron watching TV that loud that late, but there should be a rule that the common room TV stays off after 11pm. My earplugs barely helped.|• I had room 301 and there was a window right above my door. The hall light will stay on unless someone turns it off. Since most of the other rooms didn't have that window, none of the people staying in those rooms felt the need to turn it off. I turned it off before going to bed, but if someone came later they'd just turn it on again. This is why I bought and eye mask. But I would suggest the hotel to get a sensor light. It'll just turn off by itself.|• The mattress was very in uncomfortable. Once you sat/lay down on it, it would harden into the shape of your body. Just a warning for people with bad backs.||I enjoyed my stay and felt very safe. Again, this would have been a 4 star review if not for the incredibly loud TV on Sunday night that was finally turned off at 6am...just as my...
Read moreStayed here with 3 friends the first week of October 2019. The twin rooms are small and spartan but do the job of giving you a place to sleep and store gear. However, the hostel does have a nice common area with soft chairs, a pool table and kitchen so there is lots more room to socialize, plan, talk with friends than in a typical hotel. However, for sleeping it was very quiet. Breakfast as provided was pretty basic (egg and a bun) but good coffee (and good bakery 1 block away). Location is great about 15 min walk from crazy busy centre of Miniflores but only 3 min from the sea wall and close to one of the few beach access points. Great restaurants only 3 minutes walk away. Very safe clean area. And staff on duty 24 hours- door locked and they let you in =very good security. The tour they suggested for the Isla Ballestia was very good and low priced. Staff were helpful in suggesting restaurants and how to get places, arranging cabs, etc. I would recommend this over a typical...
Read moreI stayed here six months ago and gave it a five star review. I've deleted that review and now I'll tell you how horrible it really is! They've now rented out more than half the rooms to long-term renters. They allow them to smoke in their rooms with the doors open so every time I entered my room it was through a cloud of smoke. At 7am I was woken up to the smell of cigarette smoke and the renter next door hacking up his lungs for 15 minutes, it was freaking gross. The manager doesn't answer his phone, they didn't have my reservation even though I confirmed it that morning. They tried to put me into a tiny shoe box room for the same rate. I had booked for two nights but I left after one because I didn't feel safe or comfortable, the long-term residents seem sketchy af and when I wanted to use the kitchen I got dirty looks like I was invading their space. This hostel used to be great, now it's a...
