Found this stylish little corner spot at 10:30pm on a Friday, exhausted and admittedly cranky after a long day of traveling, however this place really turned the night around. Just a few blocks from our hotel, the restaurant jumps out at you on a quiet street corner with its floor-to-ceiling windows and open air concept inviting you in (most of the restaurant is inside, so don’t worry if its raining). While the restaurant and wine selection is certainly elevated, the atmosphere is friendly and laid back, bustling but not noisy, and each of our waiters (we went twice) was very sweet and happy to help us with the menu. Speaking of the menu, you've got to try the ossobuco with polenta. I’ve had a great deal of polenta but never so creamy and wonderfully seasoned as this. The ossobuco was so tender it nearly melted off the bone into a phenomenal sauce garnished with fresh thyme. The bar’s wine selection is extensive though not overwhelming which I appreciate, and serves as decor for the inner room which felt like a nice and authentic touch. My only critique would be that they do not serve wine by the glass here which would have been a nice way to try more of their selection. While I was with my mother and happy to share a bottle between the two of us, I frequently travel alone and can see that this would not be a good spot for someone...
Read moreWhat terrible service and what a condescending wait staff. As we walked in, right at as the restaurant was opening, the chef was reprimanding and talking down to the waitstaff, which he continued in front of for about 30 minutes. We waited for at least 15 minutes to place our drink order and an hour to place our tapas order. We were the only people there aside from one couple. When I asked for the wifi password, the waiter made an excuse about why he couldn't provide it only to provide the wifi password to a small child waiting at the restaurant who arrived later. The waiter tried to convince to change our order. We asked for the bill twice, when he finally gave us the bill, he lectured us about safe payments in South America. Overall, an...
Read moreWe absoloutely loved the food/wine here and the service was great... until a large cockroach ran across our table. To be fair, this could have happened at any restaurant in Lima, but we didn't think it was handled very well. I jumped out of my chair and informed our waiter. He disappeared for a while. Eventually I sat back down when I thought it had left, but it reappeared! My boyfriend managed to trap it in a glass right on top of our table. Our waiter returned and was very apologetic, but he implied they thought we might have made up the story the first time around. Instead of offering us a discount when we asked for the bill, he brought out a complimentary dessert... This would have been nice, but by that point we just...
