I really wanted to love this place so much. Not just for the fact that my husband made reservations for NYE but because all the reviews were extremely good. We walk in at 5:15 by 5:20 our waiter told us we have to put our order in because the kitchen would be closing. Felt like we were already being rushed out before we had a chance to even look through the menu. We put in our order and while waiting for all the food to come we tried the Tartare which for the record was the best thing we had so we asked for another and they said no. Not sure if it’s because they were closing the kitchen or what but just felt like they wanted to close and get us out of there. They recommended a salad and the octopus was chewy it was challenging to eat. Lastly my husband orders the fried calamari and fish and this is why I’m writing this review it showed up soggy, dripping in oil and absolutely disgusting for the fact the oil apparently wasn’t hot before it was cooked so it just got drenched in the oil. My sweet husband never complains so he ate it and unfortunately was sick for the rest...
Read moreIt started not not the best way. We came on a Sunday evening to find out that they are closing at 7 pm. Carlos, the owner, that figured out that we made all the way from Frankfurt and will stay hungry took is in his car and personally drove to another restaurant for dinner.
We decided to make an effort to come back and due to a cancelled flight we found ourselves on the 31st December , new years eve in Lima. We came to Costazul to find out that they are almost closing.
Carlos decided that he is inviting us in any case and kept the place open for us and another 2 couples. We got the best food in Lima and Carlos himself , Christian and the others made the evening outstanding. We felt as we were his private guests and he just offered to prepare for us as per his choice. I have not enough words to praise Carlos for the atmosphere , the food and the wine.
You can see the pictures of what we had and every dish was super delicious. Carlos spent time with us, told about himself and family. We have now a...
Read moreJust want to confirm that other reviews are accurate. This place is a hidden gem cuz it's pretty out of the way, but still in walking distance from JFK park. Since I went there alone, they let me order everything in half size. That is so awesome cuz I wanted to try many things. The olive infused octopus is definitely a must-try. It's a little salty so if you don't want salty food, let them know in advanced. The olive oil was mixed with something like Wasabi or maybe hot raddish creating a very very interesting taste. The octopus was soft. The second dish I got was the seafood salad recommended by the waiter. Loved it. They use orange in the sauce so it tastes a bit like sweet and sour sauce in liquid. And they have their own craft beer. Give it a shot. All in all, a pleasant visit. Price is on the expensive side compared to the local places, but it's like a third or fourth the price of those in Houston TX. I have nothing to complain except for the unexpected wait of 15 minutes for its being...
