We had our tour for 4 days in coron. This was the first place we checked out during noon time. The ambiance was simple resto looked like sooo laidback in a small town. It was quiet and we had ate Kat taking our orders. We spoked english and she dis too. I thought she was not a local. Then we had a great laugh when we heard her confirming the available menu in the kitchen speaking tagalog. Even at Kat laughed. I said to her ate nagtatagalog k naman pala pinahirapan mo pa kami. She said eh syempre nag english kayo kaya syempre english din ako. Oh that was unforgetable. She was really helpful. I always asked everytime i go to a new place about their specials and popular dishes. All of her suggestions was beyond my expectation such as kaldereta, mi go reng and 2 more popular dishes. Their drink, specialy the one with sage... was phenomenal. After we finished our meals... it rained and it was down pouring so much. My college friends and I had a great time waiting for the rain to stop there. Ate Kat was great to recommend where to go around the city for our trip. I appreciated how they used recycle things such as the lil jars for drinks, sewing thread cone as the table numbers and katya or flour cloth as curtains. We used those thread cones to take solo pictures and it turned out great. I love the fact by repurposing those materials saves the environment.
Then that night we ate there again coz our taste buds was asking for more of it. It was great.
The next evening after our boat trip we ate somewhere else it was okay but wasnt as good as kt's. We ate at the restaurant besides kt's. It has that fancy bahay kubo... it was very dissapointing. We ate in the resto located downhill from kt's on the left side, it was a meh.
Lil did i know ate Kat was the chef and owner and during evenings they all wear their culinary uniforms... They looked great and professional. Evenings are usually crowded. If you have big groups, i suggest order ahead of time. For your convenience and their convenience.
We ate there once more... oh boy kt's had my taste buds set a high standard for filipino food in coron.
Its gonna be awhile since i will go back home amd go for another coron trip. But i always tell my friends to go eat there for me... i highly recommend this place coz even until now... i cant get enough of the flavorful meals i had there. Soooo sad when we wanted to eat there lunch time before we leave coron... they were closed.
I will aways have this taste buds searching for those flavorful meals till i get to...
Read moreWe went there several times during our stay in Coron. Unlike some other places that we tried in Coron, the staff at Umamikusina is friendly and welcoming (with a big smile). After going there several times and being disappointed because their blue marlin ceviche and the blue marlin tataki were sold out, we finally made it on time one evening! We rushed into the restaurant to make sure we'd order those dishes before anyone else does. We did not regret ordering them, they were delicious. It's difficult to know in advance whether blue marlin dishes will be available because it depends what fish are caught in the morning (which means it's always fresh from the market) and if you're unlucky, you may also get there once it's already sold out. The posted pictures below are Tuna Sisig (which was nice to change from beef or pork sisig that I had in several places), sizzling blue marlin, fish in coconut milk (really cheap for the quantity of fish that you get!), blue marlin tataki and blue marlin ceviche. We were just disappointed once about one dish : the chicken & chili garlic dish was not so tasty and it was pretty heavy (it's the one on the picture with the fish in coconut milk). We actually didn't expect to get that (although we didn't ask in advance to know what it was). Careful, when you take the forks and spoons from the self-service area beside the counter, they are in boiling water to keep them clean so it means they are burning. I'd always take them with a few napkins not to burn myself 🔥 We definitely recommend...
