This is one of the most beautiful and quietest churches I have ever visited. While it may be surrounded by other buildings outside, stepping inside feels like entering a different world. The interior’s grandeur could easily rival the Sistine Chapel in Rome. As I wandered through the church, I found multiple statues and a striking central altar, but what truly captured my attention were the magnificent ceiling artworks and the two pipe organs positioned on the left and right—an impressive sight rarely seen in Philippine churches.

The abbey is home to the Benedictine monks, founded in 1895, and is directly connected to San Beda University. Architecturally, it follows a Neo-Romanesque style, with high vaulted ceilings, intricate religious art, and stained glass windows that filter in a warm, reverent glow.

Please be aware that parking can be difficult for both cars and motorcycles due to the nearby universities, and there is a ₱50 parking fee for motorcycles.

Fun fact: The Benedictines here still uphold their centuries-old tradition of Gregorian chant during Mass, giving the liturgy a solemn and...

Located in the heart of Mendiola in the midst of old universities. My to go to place during my college years. A place where traditions are still being observed despite all the modernisation that has shaped the lives of many millennials. Morning vespers before the community mass was something one has to experience where all the monks were present at the altar. It’s one of the churches that has retained the original look. They have ceiling fans since way back. They have an office on the right side upon entering the church where you can request mass for personal intentions. Available also is a small store of religious items where the famous St. Benedict medals are being sold. The church radiates with serenity that...

Located on the historical Mendiola Street lies the Manila Abbey, also known as the Abbey of Our Lady of Montserrat, one of, if not the most beautiful church in Metro Manila, some would argue it's the most beautiful in the Philippines. The exterior is very modest and even kind of gothic in some way. The interior is just a work of art and beauty. Very solemn and spiritual feeling when praying here.
