Planten un Blomen is an urban park with a size of 47 hectares (116.1 acres) in the inner-city of Hamburg, Germany. The name Planten un Blomen is Low German for "Pflanzen und Blumen" in German or "Plants and Flowers" in English. The first plant was a Platanus, planted by Johann Georg Christian Lehmann in November 1821. It can be seen next to the Hamburg Dammtor station entrance of the park. In 1953 and 1973 the Internationale Gartenbauausstellung (International Horticulture Show, IGA) were held at the park. The park is famous for its water-light concerts, public theater and music performances. In addition to the gardens, there is a large playground in the southern area of the park. This makes the park a popular place in the city. The park is open all year round and there is no entrance fee. It contains the Old Botanical Garden of Hamburg.

Planten un Blomen is one of the nicest places in Hamburg. The plants, threes, and nature in general is beautiful. There are places to sit down and have a nice peaceful time with a loved one, or a picnic with friends. Water flows along the whole area in a river. There are hills and valleys. And all of this is in the heart of Hamburg. If you want, and I would highly recommend it, you go here with some friends, bring some food, have a nice time, and as the sun sets you walk on over to St. Pauli (which is just around the corner). Or why not bring a date and afterwards go to the Hamburger Dom? Of course it gets a bit crowded when there is good weather in the summer.

I visited after a few years of not going ,I was astonished when I saw a lot of plant thriving. The layout was a stunning change to what I was used to . When I finally went there after a few years, I was astonished to see so many plants thriving. Lots of new construction sites and structures welcomed me when I arrived, indicating that the region is being improved and, perhaps, will look even better in the future. The building caused several sections to be blocked off, but it doesn't matter. There wasn't a lot of crowding, and the environment was pleasant and tranquil. This is location has a lovely atmosphere to enjoy anytime throughout the day.

This beautiful park follows the line of the old city wall, with the remains of the moat forming a series of lakes. There is room enough for a great variety of garden types, from the largest Japanese garden in Europe to water play areas for children. I liked the stepping stones, the water Lily pond and the enormous Bismarck memorial. There are deckchairs, picnic areas, cafés and bars throughout. I am sorry we couldn't stay to see the evening illuminated fountain show. We will catch it next time we are there!

I've gone through the entire park and it never ceased to amaze me. It's just too wonderful to describe and is in my opinion the most beautiful place in the entire city. The japanese area and the stunning bitanical garden (free) are simply the best! Plus, there's all sorts of things to do in the park. From the water guns with which you can play to the mini golf terrain, there's lots of stuff to see and do. You can spend an entire afternoon in the park without getting bored at all. Can it be any better?

This expansive park offers ample space for a picnic, relaxation, or just finding a shady spot to wind down. The lush surroundings make it a perfect place for a leisurely stroll or escaping the urban hustle. However, it would have been great to see a designated area for exercise activities for those looking to get in a workout amidst nature. Overall, Planten un Blomen is a wonderful urban oasis that's almost perfect. Highly recommend for anyone looking to relax and enjoy some outdoor time.
