First we can start with the good aspects
The interior is very pretty, the entire concept of the restaurant is very nice and cool.
We have been now three times over the last six months or so. We spaced out our visits to try and give it more time to mature and figure out the service and menu items.
All of our visits have had some highlights, and way too many disappointments for the price you pay. Eating a nice meal at this price point is completely fine as long as you feel the food and overall experience was worth it. After three visits, none of our experiences were even close to worth the money paid.
The interior is great. The seating options are normally not great. Tables are way too small. People are sometimes extremely close to each other and during a busy lunch or dinner you feel like the table next to you is part of your group. The tables are mostly small and some of the dishes have large plates and they don’t always fit on the small table. On a busy day it gets very loud inside.
The staff is normally very nice and supportive. However they are not very fast. Most things take more time than expected to bring to the table. You could argue that much time is spent to hand make each dish and that is fine, however many of the food items have very little extreme and over bearing taste. Visually speaking the presentation of the food is very good. The taste however can be a n many cases very strong and over whelming.
Today I ordered the signature schnitzel and it came visually looking amazing however it was over cooked. So crispy and dry you couldn’t even cut it or chew it. I returned the dish and they removed it from the bill as they should since I didn’t eat it. I did not ask for it to be removed and I thought this gesture was the right one based on the circumstances.
This is not a bad place to eat. My point is mostly based on the price you should expect much more in terms of quality food and certainly better seating arrangement. For this price point there is many better places to eat in Hamburg.
It was a cool place to visit and try. Now after three visits and roughly 850+ euros across three meals. The value is...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I decided to go big and celebrate my birthday there. Bold move? Maybe. But let me tell you - best decision ever.
I came in with high expectations… and left with a full heart and an even fuller belly.
The staff was informed ahead of time about the celebration, and they made sure everything, from the atmosphere to the tiniest detail, felt personal and special. We were greeted with a glass of champagne on the house (a delightful surprise and the perfect birthday sparkle).
Of course, we had to try the legendary truffle pasta. And oh my gosh… what a dish. Fresh, creamy, decadent, and bursting with rich, earthy flavor. We paired it with a crisp Italian rosé, chef’s kiss. The combo was perfection.
But the true highlight of the night? Martina.
There are people who are great at their job, and then there’s Martina, who redefines what hospitality means. She was the heart and soul of our evening. Thoughtful, knowledgeable, graceful under pressure, and effortlessly charming. From suggesting the best dishes and wine pairings to guiding us through the dessert menu (yes, we said yes to everything), she made sure we felt taken care of every step of the way.
Any time we had a question, she answered with patience, enthusiasm, and a passion that you just can’t fake. It’s clear she carries a lot of responsibility, and somehow makes it look easy. My professional instinct tells me she’s more than a team member, she’s a leader. Someone who quietly runs the show while making everyone else shine.
Martina, thank you. Truly. You made my birthday unforgettable!
Toward the end of the night, we were also lucky to meet Salvatore, another absolute gem. He charmed us immediately with his warmth, professionalism, and graciousness. The cherry on top of an already fantastic evening.
Every detail was spot-on. The space was spotless (yes, the bathrooms too!), the service seamless, and the food? Out of this world. The team didn’t just create a dinner, they crafted a whole experience. One I’ll remember for a long time.
We’re definitely coming back. And next time, we’re bringing...
Read moreEdmondo is a restaurant with a privileged location. A neighbourhood with beautiful architecture, exclusive shops, and parking lots (not cheap). All the above is a nice preamble, which is complete with the impressive room, its decoration, and a beautiful wall at the bar. All the above create high expectations from the menu. Oisters and caviar don't need preparation, but diners with refined taste. What doesn't match is that Pizza is recommended as one of the specielties. Pizza is Pizza, no matter what you put on top. The Trüffel pasta, with a very fancy presentation, is just good pasta with a kind of Alfredo sauce and Trüffel. There is no highlight or surprise on it. The burrata, the same, a huge one with balsamico, olive oil, and basil leaves. The pulpo, very well cooked (big achievement), is denigrated by simple sauteed potatos, base of too liquid tzaziki, and inelegant cilantro leaves on the top. The wine menu, with a small selection of different italian regions, shows some wines by the glass and bottle. But be careful... here is the bad suprise. 100 ml glass, for 9,5 Euros. If you want the 200 ml you will pay 19 Euros for one glass of wine. It was a Pinot Noir ... not a bad one, but worst served warm, a definitely not good enough for 9,5 Euros a glass. Good business for them, but short life expectation for a restaurant with food which can be better cooked at home, without the sour taste of paying more than half of the bill for 2 glasses of wine. Very funcy but low...
