Great museum with cheerful and accommodating staff and terrific exhibitions. I was amazed how well everything was preserved and organised. It was a pleasant upgrade that warmed my heart - being able to use not only a Polish audio-guide but also a Ukrainian one, with the full and perfect Ukrainian translation, and with a masterful audio recorded by the translator herself - the Ukrainian historian. As I learned more about this wonderful cooperation, I would like to say an additional Thank You to all those who made it possible, first of all my own country's Embassy of Ukraine in Poland and Professor Historian Iryna Matiash, and, of course, the House of Nicolaus Copernicus and its Director Michał Kłosiński, and the Director of the Regional Museum of Toruń Aleksandra Mierzejewska. Thanks to the staff, I also found out that the original of the portrait was temporarily joining an exhibition in the Town Hall and visit it as well. I hope to visit the House of Nicolaus Copernicus again and see the extension of this marvelous cooperation when Polish Museums sound in my native Ukrainian ❤️🤍 💙💛
📍 Exploring the Rich History of Medieval Times and Copernicus in Poland! I had the most enlightening visit to the museum, where I dove deep into the medieval era and the life of Nicolaus Copernicus. Did you know Copernicus, born in 1473, was not just an astronomer but also a mathematician, physician, and cleric? 🌟 One fun fact: Copernicus was the first to propose that the Earth revolves around the Sun, challenging the geocentric model that placed Earth at the center of the universe. This revolutionary heliocentric theory changed our understanding of the cosmos forever! 🧭✨ The interactive exhibits and the historic displays were great, offering a hands-on experience of medieval life and the profound impact of Copernicus’s discoveries. Seeing his original manuscripts and instruments up close was truly a highlight! 📜🔭 If you're a history buff or just curious about the stars, this place is a must-visit. Poland's rich heritage and Copernicus’s groundbreaking discoveries await you! 🚀 #Poland #History #MedievalTimes #Copernicus #Astronomy #TravelDiaries
Small museum about Nicolaus Copernicus in the house where he grew up in the late 15th century. The museum features displays that try to show what life would have been like in the house when he was growing up as much if not more than information about his scientific discoveries. When we attended, the computer touchscreen displays were not working. I would have liked to have seen more information about Copernicus' contributions to science and less about what the house was like when he was growing up. The house feature many rooms setup as they would have been when Copernicus was a boy, along the several that talk about astronomy from different cultures around the world, scientific instruments Copernicus would have used, and Copernicus' life as a student and scientist. Many of the science-oriented exhibits also feature interactive touchscreen displays with more information.
No właśnie... Jednak próżno szukać tu sensu i rzeczywistej wiedzy, a w szczególności przewodnika.
This magnificent gothic house is considered to be the birthplace of Nicholas Copernicus- great Polish astronom. House is a perfect example of old merchant’s house with typical arrangement of rooms and fittings. Nowadays it houses a museum devoted to life and work of Copernicus. Nicolas Copernicus was born in Toruń in 1473 in a rich merchant family. In a scientific dissertation „De revolutionibus”, he presented new, revolutionary theory of the construction of the universe in which he proved that the Sun is the centre of universe- that was revolutionary theory.
Nice museum with rich medieval exhibition pieces, decorations and especially nice medieval interior settings. Some thematic exhibitions eg. medieval shoes from Gdańsk archeological museum, space observation methods and telescopes construction, astronomical tools and facts from Copernicus life and work. Medieval medicines and cure methods. To really se all it needs about 1,5-2 hours. Clean toilets in the basement. Approachable ticket prices. Children under 7 will come in for free. I have enjoyed it much and can recommend it.
