The castle in Toruń was one of the oldest buildings of this type erected by the Teutonic Knights. It began to be built around the middle of the 13th century. The castle wasn't captured by foreign invaders. However, it was destroyed by its closest neighbors - the townspeople of the Old Town of Toruń, who besieged the stronghold at the beginning of February 1454. The inhabitants of Toruń captured the castle and immediately proceeded to its planned and almost complete demolition. In the castle courtyard, a municipal garbage dump was arranged, which functioned here for the next centuries.Currently, the castle can be visited both from the outside and inside.

For 10zl I was expecting a bit more than just a few rooms with some copies of "medieval stuff", but, as it turns out I skipped the underground part. Yet, on second thought, might be better I skipped it or I'd be giving this place one star. It felt good to be in this place, it was even better that I was alone and on a cold November day. I liked the smell of old and the presentation of the ruins. A lot of the explanations in Polish are not translated into English, felt a lot was left out for foreigners. Some of the explanations are in Polish, German and English Good place to visit overall, would be much better if more informative and less tacky

Really cool site. Lots of nice photo ops and a good history lesson. My only little complaint is that some of the signs are only in Polish which is fine if you use Google Translate. It isn't a huge complaint, just something to be aware of. I'ssay you need about one or one and a half hours to explore and read everything. Make sure you wear comfy sneakers to walk around since the ground is a bit rocky in places. Definitely add to your itinerary.

20 zlotys is a lot for what it is presented (and the audioguide is 5 zlotys more), you can get an idea about the ruins from outside. It’s not worth it unless you can read polish, at the time of my visit there were two exhibitions only in that language (it was about the history of the town and how people live there). If you wanna see a castle or the history of the Teutonic Order better going to Malbork

We visited the ruins during "fat thursday" fair. We got complimentary doughnuts with our tickets. The ruins looked impressive but there wasn't much to see. We walked around the area and soon realised that that was it. There were different activities as part of the fair. Horseshoe throwing, knife throwing and archery. If it wasn't for that i think we wouldn't have had as much fun as we did.

The 'Ruins' as it is called. It's a must visit if you go to Torun. You can see the historical artefacts and the ruins of the fortress. There are dungeons beneath which bring the history to life. In the underground they have a TV show explaining about the history of the knights and the place. You have to buy a ticket here ~9zl each There's a WC available too.
