It's a cool museum, but very difficult to follow any sort of narrative through it. The English has clearly been Google translated from Polish rather than translated by a human, which means some of it doesn't make sense and is quite tricky to read. The timeline jumps around all over the place, and some things are never explained - I had to Google who Ryszard Kukliński was to have any hope of following the exhibition, as his actions during the war take up probably half of it. There are also interactive screens throughout which have an English option, but all of the videos are in Polish (even the ones that were originally English language interviews have been dubbed over).
I am in Poland, so I can't complain too much about the lack of English, but the museum clearly has some really great artefacts and interactive displays. It could just do with a reorganisation and some better...
Read moreWhat a fantastic museum! Located in the old town of Warsaw it shows the history of the Cold War from the end of World War 2 until the fall of the USSR. It dives deep into both the USA, USSR and Poland’s role in the Cold War. Although the museum may seem small, it is packed with information and things to read so for anyone who likes to read at museums be prepared to stay a few hours here. There is a special section dedicated to Ryszard Kuklinski who was a Colonel in the Polish People’s Army who was giving hugely influential information to the CIA about Soviet plans, doing his part to eventually free Poland. There is also a fun quiz at the end of the museum to rest your knowledge on the Cold War and also some VR games. It’s also really cool reading declassified CIA Cold War documents about the USSR. I...
Read moreMy biggest tip for a visit to Warsaw is this museum, especially for history buffs. It's a very well organised exhibition of the cold war and fall of communism in Poland. It mainly features double Polish army general turned NATO spy Ryszard Kuklinski, who played a pivotal role in the gathering of intelligence furthering an end to the cold war. The exhibits are organized well and arrows make it easy to follow the timeline. English translations aren't very good, but good enough to understand most of it. Definitely...
