A bizarre experience and completely lack of professional skill on the part of the staff and especially the manager.
It was one of the most bizarre and embarrassing experiences of my life. I was led to a table set up in a tiny space at the back of the restaurant. There were two candles on the wall next to the table, as shown in the photo. When the waitress brought my order, she said that the plate was very hot and asked me to be careful. So I leaned back to create more room for her to put the plate on the table. It all happened so quickly. I only saw her surprised reaction, and then she went back into the kitchen. So I ran my hand through my hair to find out why she reacted with astonishment. I almost didn't believe it was real when I realised that my hair had caught fire from the candle and I was holding a tuft of hair in my hands, while still trying to put out the fire that was still in my hair. The waitress didn't warn me, didn't say anything, and without even helping me returned to the kitchen. When I went into the kitchen, where she and the manager were talking, I asked for some kind of explanation. Then the situation became even more embarrassing. Because the waitress's lack of professionalism only reflected the incompetence of the manager. Not only did she never apologise for the employee's lack of help, but she even suggested that it was my fault. After offering me lunch for "free", the incompetent manager gave me a number on a blank piece of paper, like the restaurant's insurance number. When I asked for help to call the police, because as a visitor and tourist I didn't even know which number to call, the so-called Manager refused to give me any help to contact the police and generate a police report so that I could claim on the insurance. I hoped that the arrival of the police would, at least a little, alleviate the feeling of neglect and do shut up and refuse me the right to know what wassregard that I had experienced up to that point. But that didn't happen; in addition to not solving my problem, the officer treated me with irony and sarcasm, asking to see where the hole in the burnt hair was, aritten in the report. The incident was only registered at my insistence. It shows how unprepared the city of Warsaw, its services and its authorities are to receive tourists, who, in theory, are advertised as welcome.
When I left the restaurant, I went to a police station, where I was advised how to proceed with a complaint against the policeman and his unscrupulous behaviour and a lawsuit against the restaurant for all the embarrassment I had suffered.
I wouldn't recommend the restaurant to anyone. There are other options with better...
Read moreNot sure if this is the exact place I was with my Polish friend, as Zapiecek have a few restaurants in and around the city centre.
Was very excited to try the Pierogi, as I know this dish to be very delicious and this place looked the part. Nice and cozy, good crowd in, and waiting staff very welcoming. Love it Great that the menu comes in English too.
I started with some of "Grandma's portion", a mix of 9 boiled dumplings, l then moved onto a meaty version.......lovely. I also ordered Roast beef with veg and potatoes...... and to further fatten me up.....I lastly got some dumplings with duck. A lot of dumplings and my Polish friend was amazed how many I had eaten, 18 or something I had eaten (a record for sure!) ha
The dishes were excellent, well presented, good honest food, and delicious. I would say the duck dumplings were not my cup of tea, but you live and learn. All food was washed down by the obligatory cool pint of Tyskie. My friend ordered what looked like a bread football with a meat stew inside it, and she also ordered a dessert afterwards.
A lot of food, and a good hour or two whiled away.......Nice atmosphere good company and great food. And the bill didn't come to a whole lot either, cant remember exactly what it was but i do know it was a very fair and reasonable price.
Very much recommended if coming to Warsaw to try out a Zapiecek branch...
Read moreI chose this restaurant as my very first dining experience in Warsaw, based on a friend’s recommendation. The food and beer were good, and most of the staff were kind and welcoming. However, my overall experience was overshadowed by the attitude of our server, Da**.
From the moment we placed our order, it was clear that she showed little to no friendliness toward our table. Unlike the other staff, her demeanor felt dismissive and unwelcoming, which left us feeling disappointed. At one point, I even asked for her name to write this review—she first refused to give it, and only later told me. This made the whole interaction feel even more unprofessional and uncomfortable.
It’s unfortunate because the restaurant itself has so much potential, but a single staff member’s rude and unprofessional behavior can truly ruin a guest’s impression. Because of this, no matter how good the food is, I would never return to...
