Definitely worth a visit! Despite what others have said, purchasing a ticket was relatively easy (and inexpensive). Once inside the tower mall, just take the lift/escalator up to the first floor and purchase a ticket from the ticket office. Tickets cost 10 PLN for a reduced ticket (students under 26 etc.) and 16PLN for a ticket on weekends. Between Monday and Friday, you can get it slightly cheaper at 14PLN. Be careful though, as you might have to book for a later trip that has free spaces (shown on a screen), so be prepared to kill sometime in the shopping center or even return back to the tower later in the day.
Once purchased, you should go back to the ground floor and leave via the exit adjacent to Starbucks, then turn right (the ticket office has maps available anyway). The lift will take you up to the 49th floor (in groups, maximum of 20), where the outstanding view of the city can be seen.
Sure, it's not a 360° view, but most of the city can be seen, and it truly is amazing. You must be able to see for at least 40-50 miles - most of the city's landmarks can be seen, and other points of interest such as WRO airport (planes can be seen landing) and even the Owl Mountains can be seen from here. If you go up just as it's about to get dark, you can see the daylight change to night and see the gorgeous sunset. There are a few vending machines, for coffee and snacks, and a green screen where you can purchase a photo against a chosen backdrop (10PLN for a standard size photo, and 15PLN for a large photo).
The glass windows are good, especially if you're afraid of heights, as the security of being indoors is reassuring. The windows aren't also outwards facing like in a revolving view tower (like Berlin Fernsehturm), which makes viewing easier and more comfortable. It also allows you to take good quality images.
Whilst there is supposed to be a specified limit of how long you can spend up at the top, the staff are quite lenient and you can just go back down when you're ready. An attendant waits by the lift at all times for whenever you want to go back - you are really free to yourself once you are up there.
Many people say that it's only worth one visit, which is understandable as it's the same view, however you could revisit at a different time of day (daylight hours/night) to get a different view, as at night you can see all of the beautiful city lights, and during the day you can see the vibrant...
Read moreBooked a room for Sky Tower on AirBnB the same day I was going to arrive late at night to Wrocław. Their AirBnB listing stated that you can check-in anytime between 3 pm and 11 am (see photo from the AirBnB app). They called me about 3-5 minutes after my reservation to check what time I would be checking in, so I told them around 10/1030pm. I was confused when they said that it is not possible. I figured maybe they had some issue with Staff or the building. Nope. They only do check in until 9pm, not until 11am. I understood, but asked them to please cancel my reservation in this case since the information on AirBnB was misleading and just wrong. They first tried to tell me I needed to cancel it on AirBnB to receive a refund. This was their second lie. On AirBnB the host needs to cancel for the guest to receive a refund. So I called back and asked them to please cancel on their end. At this point they became pretty aggressive and told me that they have a very strict no cancellation policy and because I read their description in English it was my fault that i got bad information. They said that it was written correctly in Polish (which it is, but their English text that I was showed in the AirBnB app was wrong, again see the photo) and I should have known to switch the languages and to know Polish. I kindly said that app issues, translation issues, and description issues are a problem for the Hotel and AirBnB to solve. But having false information in your Hotel description that entices people to make a reservation and then deny them services and still keep their money. Now that seems down right dirty. So now I am working with AirBnB to get the refund. Seems to me like they like to take advantage of foreigners maybe? Or they just like to use the strict cancellation policy to make easy money off of people. I'm not sure, but for a place that makes so much money you would think that would have the higher morals and business ethics to admit that they made a mistake in translating their description and offer a refund to the customer who made the reservation less than 15...
Read moreWe were staying at Sky Tower from the 9th of April until the 12th of April in an apartment with bathtub near the window. Upon arrival, everything in the apartment seemed ok and normal. However, the first issue we noticed was that the iron was not working. Turns out that the electricity in half of the apartment was not working either, so we had only a few options for electric outlets. Eventually, our fridge and freezer turns off so all of our food had to be thrown away. When we noticed these issues, we continuously communicated with staff at the hotel who told us that we would get help the next day. Therefore, we stayed in an apartment where basically half of the apartment was unusable. After leaving the apartment for a few hours, we also noticed that less and less electricity was working, and in the end we only had electricity in one of the bathrooms. We also experienced slight problems with the toilet where poop that was not ours was appearing in our toilet during the late evening. The manager that we talked to told us that we would get a partial refund for our stay since we had so many issues. He directed us to talk to the reception the next day about this and the reception told us to write them an email. We wrote them an email, where they offered us a stay in their apartment that would be 50% cheaper. However, we told them that we still wanted the partial refund that the manager promised us, and we have not heard from them since. For a hotel with this much prestige, this seems extremely unprofessional and surprising as I would assume that they want to maintain their good image. However, our experience at the hotel and consequently the communication with them after our stay proves the opposite. I hope they will eventually get back to us but right now I have little hope and respect...
