Praia de São João — Attraction in Almada

My daughter and her friends really enjoyed this beach on a sunny afternoon in late October, when it was very quiet. It's nice that they have a few adjoining beach restaurants for lunch, and we found the beach surprisingly accessible from central Lisbon thanks to the very good service Uber provides in this area (we were even able to request an Uber for the return journey with only a few minutes wait).

Probably worth being mindful of the apparently lax attitude of locals in terms of how they exercise their dogs on the beach though. In that sense maybe not the best beach for digging...

Great beach and now Classico beach club is there so you can rent a lounge, towel, eat and drink! Loved this beach took an Uber from Lisbon 20 euro. Lounges lunch drinks not cheap but great if your visiting the city and want a day at the beach. Highly recommend and make reservations for lunch, food was fresh...

If staying in Lisbon it is definitely worth the ferry across the river to come here (an experience in itself), it is a vast sandy beach with some restaurants at points along the side, a 30 minute walk from the ferry at Trafaria yet we just got an Uber. I think it is much better than beaches...
