Hi guys. For 2019, we decided to go to Lisbon, Portugal. All I can is WOW. ||Let me start with our "hotel" stay first. We decided to not go with your traditional hotel accommodations. We used "Lisbon Serviced Apartments". Is like having your apt in the city. 2 bedrooms, futon/couch, 1 1/2 baths (stand up shower only), full kitchen, with complete eatery. dishwasher, washer/dryer, tv (with only one translatable channel (disney of course). I highly recommend this over a hotel. ||Sightseeing : we used a service called Inside Lisbon. Again, I highly recommend this service. Why you asked.. Unlike other tour packages, with many other tourists. This one is personable They only take a maximum of 8 people for each van, your own private tour. They have options for a tour guide who speaks other languages, english, spanish, etc. ||SIte we saw:||Pena Palace - wow, wow - Portugese royalty lived here!! Need to say more? So much history to see. Once your in the palace, you can actually feel the ancientness of the place ( bring a jacket ). The Palace is way up in altitude. I would say at east 15 to 20 degrees (farenheit) colder than the city. ||||Town of Sintra : lots of places to eat, didn't have much time to explore. So not much to write about. Quaint little town though.||||Town of Cascais: wonderful beach front town. Lots of small shops to look at. If you go here, There is a restaurant called ...something CELESTE. Get the clams Bulhao Pato. OMG, this dish (clams is clams) but the garlic and olive oil sauce is out of this world. I actually was drinking the sauce. Yes, its that good. Pretty much all of the other restaurants in Lisbon has this dish, but wasn't quite the same.||||Belem Tower: again, you can feel the ancientness of this place. Just a whole lot of WOW factor here. Used in many battles to defend Portugal from invaders. ||||Obidos Castle in the town of Obidos - WOW, wow, wow. The Roman army occupied this castle for awhile. Just think, you are in a place, walking the cobble stone, climbing the stairs that one of the greatest army lived!! ||||Town of Fatima : holy grounds. I think Pope John Paul II spoke here after an attempt of his life. ( I may be wrong on the number for the Pope) See where he stood when spoke in this holy mecca. Where thousands of other devoted catholics stood.||||Town of Nazare - seaside resort kind of feel. Nothing special here. Same as any other seaside towns on the east coast of USA. ||||Costa de Caparca: a nice beach to go, a couple of miles off the 25 April bridge (won't tell you why the bridge is called that, its part of history) To rent a couple of beach lounge chairs is 19 Euros (all day rental). Beach is okay, nothing great. Nudity is technically illegal in Portugal ( but it has been accepted as the norm ) So, if you have kids, stay near the family sections. If you go eat off the beach, (there is beach food service if you choose to) DO NOT GO TO A PLACE CALLED SUSHI PARADISE (translating to English) horrible service, HORRIBLE. ||||Cabo da Roca - the most western point in Europe. VERY WINDY, hold onto your hats, and the young kids. They will get blown away. Just think, when you are looking into the ocean, Washington, DC is just thousands away from where you are standing. ||||Town of Lisbon - lots of places to see, churches, highest point of Portugal, other high places to get great view of the city. Food, drinks, just loads of choices to eat at. If you like seafood, fish, whelk (yummy, never had it before), etc. Once you get sick of fish (I did). We google a place called Frangasqueira Nacional. Grilled chicken, sausages, and ribs. I am going to repeat myself here - WOWWOWWOW. So good, the seasoning, the taste. Or perhaps it was a breath of fresh air, after a week of ocean food. ||||Great trip overall. Enough writing, finger cramps. Till my next review...
Read more1st time in Lisbon. We booked 5 nights based on positive reviews and nice room pictures. ||||The experience was horrible. We found mice droppings on the dining table and under the kitchen sink. Reported the issue to the hotel. A staff removed the mice droppings under the sink. There were still mice droppings over all the unit (behind the beds, on the baseboards, on the floor. I suspect the entire building is infected with mice as they live behind walls. ||||It's a serious health hazard as droppings and urine carry infections virus and the hotel didn't acknowledge this at all. This situation was bad for my family. We weren't able to enjoy our time in Lisbon as we experienced high stress. The Lisbon serviced apartment offered me future discounts for future bookings with them but didn't offer anything to make good after i asked them a few times what would they like to do about the current situation.||Bathroom wall is covered with drywall dust. It's another health hazard. ||Bathroom big stone slab floor wasn't leveled. When you step on it, it sounds like a car running over a manhole cover. Super annoying.||The Neighborhood is dirty. Garage all over despite garbage bins get emptied every night. || Bangladeshis own more than 40 of the 90 businesses or shops located in the Rua do Benformoso road. Many people termed the road as Bangla town.||A fight broke out on one of the nights. My wife didn't feel safe in the neighborhood. It's a long way of saying. Don't book Lisbon Serviced...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE! Extremely bad location, unsafe surroundings, horrible customer service, and the property looks nothing like the pictures.
I had requested to cancel this booking as I was traveling with a baby and arriving at 1 AM, but my cancellation was denied. I had no choice but to go, and the experience was terrible. I had to check out the same day. There were prostitutes and large groups of men from various backgrounds hanging around — something that is not disclosed in the description of the location.
Our driver had to wait for us to safely enter the building because of how unsafe it felt. During check-out, a person came to confirm we had left — along with a cleaning lady — because they had already booked the same place again! I was told I would be refunded for the remaining nights. But when I contacted the property, they apologized and claimed they cannot control what happens in public spaces around the property — and therefore, I would not be refunded.
There is clearly a reason why it’s marked non-refundable, and it’s a scam. We paid almost €700 for this place and had to switch to a far better accommodation — refundable, safer, and kid-friendly — for only €450.
BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT...
