Hotel Sintra Jardim is not quite a hotel in some ways, more like a Pensione. For big instance, there were no amenities — NONE — in the bathroom. Bring your own, and a wash cloth if you like. Our Garden View room on the first floor featured a short bath tub with only a plexiglass swinging panel to block water from shower … resulting in a soaked bathroom … by the time I figured out the water comes out of the hand-held shower head that was left facing out. There was a hand soap dispenser on the corner of the tub with not very nice liquid soap in it for body wash. ||The lush garden was a sanctuary of delight, though, and made up for funkiness of the hotel. People swam in the pool in May while we were there. If you want a place to get away, Hotel Sintra Jardim is like no other around. You can see the Moor Castle from the hotel’s terrace. (The Terrace door is locked at 11:00 at night, so you can’t get out.)||Breakfast was pretty good. ||The hotel desk clerks spoke excellent English. ||Hotel Sintra Jardim is a steep 15 minute walk downhill to the Historic Center of Sintra, We liked that we could walk even with the walk back up the steep hill. If you can spend a night or two in Sintra, I recommend it to have the beautiful little city all to yourself.||The hotel desk clerks spoke excellent English. ||This is what I wish I knew beforehand:||We wanted to go to Quinta do Regalieras first. We spent an hour in the Center figuring out how to get there, turns out via a Hop On Hop Off bus. When in fact the #1252 local yellow bus that stops right outside the hotel goes directly to Quinta do Regalieras! We also found we could have walked from the Hotel, albeit a steep climb up. The #435 Hop On Hop Off bus goes there, as well as to Palace Montserrat. ||As for the Hop On Hop Off bus … these are the big WHITE buses you catch in the Center and particularly at the Railway Station (#435 to Quinta do Regalieras). The Buses do take credit cards. All day ticket is 13 Euros and change. (I at first mistakenly thought we were looking for the typical Red sightseeing double decker buses, but those only come from Lisbon.)||The #434 bus goes to Pena Palace and Moor Castle, which we caught at the bottom of the hill from the hotel. As mentioned, you can use a credit card. ||The #434 and #435 just go in a loop, so you cannot go wrong hopping on one at any point. ||In all, Hotel Sintra Jardim was the best we could do for wanting a 3 person room. And is the kind of place experiential travelers like for its history, character, and for its unusual-ness. It was nice to be a bit...

Stayed during low season. Double bedroom with private bathroom.

The quaint 150 year old building and the rooms and their decoration are excellent.

When I checked in late, the receptionist politely but fully explained everything about our stay and gave us directions to the main sights and public bus numbers.

Entering the rooms, with the creaking of wooden floors in your ears, you are greeted by a truly lovely design. Musky incense wafts through the building, giving it a uniform look.

There are two living rooms in the building that could be used for reading or quiet conversation, and the interior design, furniture and furnishings of each are quaint and very nice. They were available until 23:00 in the evening.

Breakfast is served in a lovely room that opens onto a terrace with a fireplace and access to the pool and small garden. It is a simple buffet, but the great thing is that as soon as you sit down at your table, they bring you a fresh pot of coffee and a good crispy loaf of bread (a loaf of bread and a Portuguese croissant). The service was very nice, like a five-star hotel.

Local network connectivity is difficult in the area, but there is WiFi in every room and it worked fine.

Check-out went smoothly. Everything was impressively nice and lovely. I wish I could come back here one day.

Lovely garden, nice breakfast room with breakfast, close to Moor Castle (less than 10 minutes walk to the top), cheap out of season, some rooms with bath.

No hot water after a while when the bath was filled to a certain level. The shower temperature also remained warm (not hot enough to warm the...

We loved unforgettable charm of the old villa. The beautiful surroundings and nice big swimming pool. All you need to enjoy the easy time. There is a bus stop in a minute of walking. Although the trial rout to the castles starts within a stone throw. It is reasonably close to the train station and we have traveled twice to Lisbon. Yes it does not get 5 starts because of the breakfast. I have been expecting from the breakfast the same authenticity as from the venue itself. Local products, taste and delicious. Unfortunately the breakfast is a very basic - it is called continental breakfast. The basic tasteless hum and cheese. We survived thanks to the fresh orange juice and nice bread. Nevertheless, we would be happy to come back once again.

A premium stay, considering it is a 2 stars hotel. For my personal taste this would be the perfect accommodation in all places. Big rooms, vintage appearance, gentle staff and a great location. The hotel is into an old villa, with a strategic position for visiting the beauties of Sintra. The stay is simply relaxing, just walking into the park, (full of trees and benches to sit and read a book), watching up and see the Moorish Castle or taking a swim in the big swimming pool. Then the plus of just leaving the car in the private parking, cross the road an be on the way up to the castles (Moorish and Peña), 30 min walk up the hill, through a shaded and clean step way. Highly recommended.

The spot to stay for your Sintra visit. It’s nice, cozy, well placed (situated) and perfect for relaxing after walks in the mystical woods that surround Sintras top spots. We stayed for three nights and had rain almost the whole time, however, the hotel staff and amenities were good and we could dry and warm ourselves at night with a drink in the hotel bar, and a round of chess in the common areas. (Electric furnace in the room also helped) The hotel is around 150 years old, but is well maintained and cared for. The garden is amazing and if you go here, I hope you get to enjoy the pool. (As we did not, due to the weather) Attached is a picture of the sunniest day - (checkout day) :(
