I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tascantiga, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Sintra, and I must say, it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. From the delectable cuisine to its convenient location, this restaurant truly deserves the highest praise. First and foremost, the food at Tascantiga was nothing short of exceptional. Every dish I sampled was bursting with flavor, showcasing the rich and diverse culinary traditions of Portugal. From traditional Portuguese dishes to unique and creative culinary creations, Tascantiga offers a menu that caters to every palate. Each bite was a tantalizing journey of taste, leaving me craving for more. The attention to detail in the presentation of the dishes was also noteworthy, adding an extra touch of elegance to the dining experience. Furthermore, the location of Tascantiga is a true advantage. Situated in close proximity to all the main attractions in Sintra, this restaurant offers a convenient respite for weary travelers. After exploring the magnificent palaces and castles that Sintra has to offer, finding a place to relax and indulge in a memorable meal becomes effortless with Tascantiga. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant adds to its charm, making it an ideal spot to unwind and savor the flavors of Sintra. The service at Tascantiga was also commendable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and well-versed in the menu, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience was top-notch. Their genuine warmth and dedication to customer satisfaction created a welcoming environment that enhanced the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Tascantiga is a culinary haven in the heart of Sintra. The delicious cuisine, convenient location, and impeccable service make it a must-visit restaurant for anyone exploring the wonders of Sintra. Really popular tapas restaurant in Sintra, expect to wait in line! However, the line moves quickly! After spending time in Lisbon, I found that Sintra food was somewhat of a let-down. However, Sintra's saving grace is Tascantiga and this restaurant remains my favorite in this small area.

The menus are English-speaker friendly, and there were a lot of tourists dining here. My table of three ordered seven tapas and a dessert, which was the perfect amount of food for us. My favorite was the roasted chorizo, it was deliciously juicy and came on sticks so the presentation was quite funny. Many of the foods were served in small dishes that resembled flower pots. I thought it was a very cute touch.

Some of the other tapas I thought were just okay. For instance, the cheese with figs and ham lacked, well, figs and ham. The pieces were small and baked into the cheese which had a strong taste that overpowered the ingredients. Two of the dishes we ordered kind of blended together because they both had crispy onions on top. The tapas just tasted like crispy onions lol. I suspect that many of the tapas may have this crispy onion topping. The fried cuttlefish, though cute in presentation, was dry for me.

Do not skip dessert and DO try to get a seat outside to enjoy the beautiful...

By far lunch at Tascantiga was our favorite meal during our Portugal trip. When we went, the entrance was a little unclear (they had it roped off which we thought meant it was closed) but after inquiring, we were seated quickly on their beautiful outdoor patio.

The food here was so good. We ordered a few of the tapas: the cod dumplings with olive puree (mostly out of curiosity), the toasted spare ribs, the candied pork cheeks, and the French fries. Everything we ate was amazing (I forgot to take photos of everything because it just looked so good and I couldn't wait). The cod dumplings were texture-wise very different, we liked them.

We also had two sangrias. I'm not sure if it's just Portuguese sangria that is so good but I can't stop thinking of that sangria. It was bubbly, not too sweet, and unlike any sangria that I've had before. I'm going to try to recreate it because I loved it so much.

The service was great and quick. This was the perfect place for us to recharge during our trip to Sintra. The prices were also so affordable for us. Every restaurant we went to after Tascantiga, we compared to here. I've already recommended it as a place you can't miss to all of my friends going to...
