Shark Diving Cape Town — Attraction in Western Cape

I had a very disappointing experience with African Shark Eco-Charters.

They cancelled our shark diving activity just one day before, and even though the cancellation was on their end (due to weather), they still kept a 3% fee — something I strongly disagree with. What’s worse, the refund I received was less than that 3%, which makes the whole process feel unfair.

I feel very disappointed by how the situation was handled. Their response showed no real empathy or understanding of how international customers are impacted — especially when paying in a different currency. They keep repeating that the fee is “outside of their control,” but from the customer’s point of view, this is a very unpleasant and costly experience.

They were quick to charge the full amount in advance, yet unwilling to absorb even minimal financial consequences when they themselves had to cancel. This does not reflect a customer-centric or professional attitude.

If you’re considering booking with them, keep in mind that they may cancel the day before your trip, and you’ll have to absorb the cost — ending up with less money refunded than what you paid for the experience. — Tuve una experiencia muy decepcionante con African Shark Eco-Charters.

Cancelaron nuestra actividad de buceo con tiburones apenas un día antes, y aunque la cancelación fue por su parte (debido al clima), igualmente retuvieron una comisión del 3%, con la cual no estoy de acuerdo. Lo peor es que el reembolso que recibí fue inferior a ese 3%, lo que hace que todo el proceso se sienta injusto y mal gestionado.

Me siento muy decepcionada con la forma en que se manejó la situación. Su respuesta no mostró empatía ni comprensión del impacto que esto tiene en los clientes internacionales, especialmente cuando se paga en otra moneda. Repiten que la comisión es “ajena a su control”, pero desde el punto de vista del cliente, fue una experiencia muy costosa y frustrante.

Fueron muy rápidos para cobrar el 100% por adelantado, pero no estuvieron dispuestos a asumir ni siquiera las consecuencias económicas mínimas cuando fueron ellos quienes debieron cancelar. Esto no refleja una actitud profesional ni centrada en el cliente.

incredible experience. communication from booking to day of diving was prompt, Captain and crew were knowledgeable and they made sure we get to see some action despite not the best weather. just feel immensely lucky to be able to get out. we missed the seal snorkel that was planned for later after the shark dive but die to weather conditions, and we could feel it on our way back from the boat, it was getting hectially windy and choppy. Both being able to get into water and missing the seal snorkel just shows the level of commitment African Eco team made to ensure our enjoyment, and above all safety. Pick up was on time. Got to shark diving office where they confirmed sizes for wet suit and booties. On way to dive stopped to whale watch. The whale was really close so got good view. At dive site each group of 5 has 20 minutes in cage. Groups are small so doesn't waste any time. Sharks continue to come by the cage and a seal circled below. Was totally safe. The crew was excellent and professional. Boat was perfect for the excursion. Saw whales again on the return and tons of seals on Seal Island. Boy do they stink. I highly recommend...
