This review comes as comparison with 3 other hotels we stayed in Korea and Sin Sin comes in 3rd place.
First, maybe you won't be silly as us, but given there are 3 Sin Sin hotels in close proximity - make sure you put in Naver or tell the taxi driver the address.
Let's start with the good things. Big hotel in a very convenient location for exploring the south of the island. Big Reception with Business center and water dispenser for unlimited supply of water. We rented a car and the hotel - although limited - has parking free of charge. Breakfast area on groundfloor - spacious. Variety of food although the options were a bit hard to match into a coherent breakfast but overall we did not stay hungry so that being said it's a matter of taste i suppose. A very large bathroom with the usual shower gel & shampoo/conditioner which were not drying on the skin/scalp.
Bus station in front of the hotel The Market is very close to the hotel ± all the restaurants area
Now the not so much good things: Room with a view over the island - could even see a bit the ocean in the distance but so tiny. The smallest room we had during our 2 week stay in korea. Although i love a big bathroom i think they can make it smaller making more space in the actual room - i am not even kidding but the bathroom was almost the same size. 😅 A small clothing rack with 4-5 mostly broken hangers. Carpet outdated and a bit stained. AC - we had issues in getting it started at a steady flow of cold air but we managed to keep the room cool by leaving it on even when we were away (you will pay a 1000won deposit for the 2nd key) No Laundry services (but a coin laundry around the corned - the dryer not doing much of drying tho and prices a bit higher than ehat we have at a previous hotel in Seoul - i think washing is at 4000won and dryer 500won per 8 min)
Jeju Island is so magical and so many beautiful things to see, smell, taste, experience that although the hotel choice could have been better we had...
Read moreI regret not having read the comments before booking. This building is first of all unsanitary.
The ground floor is clean and well maintained, but from the upper floors the nauseating smell of the carpet is sickening.
As soon as we arrived in the room, we noticed that there was dirt and stains on the ceiling, walls, carpets, woodwork, furniture (even inside the bedside table) and bedding (what more effort would it take to wash the bedding with bleach?). The bathroom is also not clean, limescale stains have accumulated there and even dried soap in the soap dish... I'm not even talking about the curtains that don't close. And the telephone that didn't work.
After addressing all the problems to the reception, we were promised that someone would come by to clean, repair the telephone and the curtains. The housekeeping team left us 2 bottles of water and a Febreeze type spray and that's all we noticed as a change... The curtains, it was the driver (yes you read that right) who came to finally tell us that he would fix all that tomorrow morning.
I don't know what else to say to discourage you from going there.
Oh also, the wifi is public and therefore, not protected. There is no safe in the room.
In short, avoid this hotel at all costs. I hope that our stay on Jeju Island will not be too impacted by all this. We are so disappointed. We are afraid of finding insects (cockroach, bedbugs) in our room after reading the...
Read moreYou really get what you pay with at this hotel.
pros: great location - across a 7/11 and 8 min walk from the food market great value - spacious room and we paid about 40 cad/ night free underground parking easy check-in with staff located across from coin laundry
cons: we found a HUGE roach in our room - staff was able to switch our rooms immediately but we had trouble getting over it mentally. they have a “anti-bug” policy which should’ve been our first red flag. the staff told us that the they get regular exterminations with the most recent visit being 2 weeks prior to our visit but all I can say that roach was BIG. our first room also has the smell of cigarettes when we requested a non- smoking room. i requested extra pillow at 9pm before going to bed - but was denied and was told we can get one in the morning which wasn’t helpful because we were there for only one night. in the new room, we were hyper vigilant to check for bugs and found a lot of questionable looking stains, dust, and holes. but thankfully no bugs, so we sucked it up for the one night.
overall:
The service staff did the best that they could given the policy. the hotel management needs to do better to maintain the building. Everything else could be overlooked - we aren’t picky people - but the roach is where I draw the line. But hey, you get what you paid for. So please proceed with caution...
