Review of the market complex next to Marriott hotel : most of the shops were closed on festivities and weekends . usually open mon-fri 8-10am to 5-6pm. A lot of variety, shopkeepers some were nice some weren’t . I recommend TASSELS: basement 254 - the elderly man was such a sweetheart he made a missing tassel on my dress and refused payment . Level 5 : METAL CHAINS : B 5023 - prices were very reasonable for surgical steel chains and the gentleman even told me to look for him to connect the chains to my clasps although I bought them elsewhere . ( I bought them to make detachable crossbody straps for my small bags ) SEED BEADS : A 5023 the lady helped me find what I was looking for . SEQUINS : A 5132. level 2 : BUTTONS B 2411 Avoid ; 2nd floor D2612 told me in English he doesn’t deal with foreigners. 2nd floor B2402 overcharged me. I bargained with a shop selling wide linen laces and she gave me less than what I asked for , one lace was 60cm shorter. So bring your own measuring tape and check before purchase . The shopkeepers were offended If...

Google maps did not lead us to the location (if you go the point that Google maps calls Dongdaemun Mall, you hit some alley with a bunch of local stores), the actual mall is closer to the Tous le Jours location down Cheonggyecheon-ro when travelling east. My friend and I gave up looking from it when we asked for directions and were instead redirected to a large mall right across the river called Doota Mall. So while heading in that direction, we were walking down the sidewalk when we stumbled across Dongdaemun Mall. When it's called a home goods store, they really mean it. It's a great place for getting supplies to create your own goods, they have a lot of variety in the type of clothes, belts, ropes and tools that they sell. Not very touristy but it's nice to visit and take a...
Read moreA great place for shopping, fabric / Korean silk , ethnic Korean wear, shoes , bags and loads of good stuff with very high quality products . People are friendly, absolutely safe to go around, use translator to communicate and subways to go around in Seoul. Easy access through subway to main market ( Exit 8 / 4 ) , have currency exchange shops around as cards are not accepted in most places so make sure to have cash . Don’t see much of bargaining but small discount for 2-5% , need couple of day or more to go around most places in Dongdaemun. The prices are high / very expensive but socks / fabrics / hand bags / shoes are worth it. If u shop for more than 30K won and get invoice than ask for VAT refund receipt to claim at...
