There's a short cut to shave off 500m off the initial steep climb. Go towards the Seoul City Gate Museum. Visit this museum first. It serves as a great introduction before the ascent. You will appreciate the walls, the history and the hard labor that went into it's construction. There's a back exit from this museum which leads directly to the wall at the back. Upon exit, you will find that the walkway is very manageable as the steep climb had been bypassed. Continue up the slope and you will find a serene environment away from the busy street activities down below. There's a exercise area and a pavilion if you need a rest. Be aware there's no restroom.
