It’s an old park next to the Haehwa subway line #4 station and numerous small theaters, cafes and restaurants. Lots of people pass the park everyday. There are couple of statues and trees. At the southern corner of the park there is a...

ㅡ혜화나 대학로를 떠올리면 마로니에공원은 늘 함께 연상되는 곳이다. 이곳에서 학창시절을 보냈던, 그렇지않던 이곳은 50여년이 흘러도 늘 젊음의 상징이고 문화예술의 장판이며, 이제 머리 희끗희끗한 이들의 추억이 서린 곳이다 ㅡ 지하철 4호선 혜화역 2번출구로 나와 왼쪽 공원 광장으로 들어서면, ㅡ 한국문화예술위원회 아르코 예술극장과 정면에 아르코미술관이 보인다. ㅡ 공원광장에는 잠시 쉼을 갖는 이들과 버스킹을 준비하는 거리의 예술가들, 소소한 단체들의 공연이 늘 펼쳐지고, ㅡ 다양한 예술장터가 열린다 ㅡ밤의 마로니에공원, 특히 주말, 휴일 밤의 마로니에 공원은 대학로의 활기를 또다른 느낌으로 맛볼 수 있다 ㅡ 주변 볼거리로는 아르코미술관 뒤로 이화마을과 낙산공원이 연결되어 있으며, 동대문 방향으로 한국방송통신대학교본교와 이화장이 위치한다 ㅡ 낙산공원은 한양도성의 연결로 아래로 동대문, 위로 혜화문을 거쳐 성북의 북악스카이까지도 순례도전이 가능하다. ㅡ 마로니에 공원 맞은편 역시 대학로이며, 두 곳 모두 쇼핑과 식사, 벗들과 우정을 나누기 좋은 다양한 맛집들이 즐비하며 ㅡ 위로 혜화로타리를 지나 성균관대방향으로는 창경궁이 도보로도 가능하다. ㅡ 만추의 마로니에공원 ㅡ아르코미술관에서 ㅡ중진작가 기획초대전 (무료)이 있어 다녀왔다. ㅡ아르코미술관은 젊은 신진작가들의 실험작 및 다양한 우리들에게 잊혀지거나 묻혀져가고 있는 아트스토리 발굴 및 재해석, 전시를 무료로 체험할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다

What a lovely place this is. It has a vibrant atmosphere and the energy from the youths here is amazing like those in Taiwan and Japan. Lots of people gather here to listen to music, have patbingsoo or shop. It’s worth a visit.
