The heavens declare God's handiwork... We were mesmerised by the exhibit in this place and definitely an ideal educational trip. Science is the study of matter and how things came to be and despite the theories that the universe came out of a chaotic event, such a order of a universe and galaxy does not seems to tally with that theory. From the exhibit, it is said that the stars are actually formation of gases. And since I am a firm believer of creation theory, may I say that through God's breath and command the universe came into being. Of course, it is debatable and I how can we conclude our theory based on a theory itself? Anyway, we enjoy the show in the planetarium and we saw the amazing telescope... which was more than 150 years old. We saw the surface in close proximity and it is awesome! This is really a well deserving place to visit. Warning: the cable car cease at 7pm and the telescope viewing begin at 7:30pm. After the telescope viewing, we have to find our way back through bus and long walk.

My friend and I were high schoolers who were somewhat space enthusiastic, this was the perfect place to expand our interests. They’ve got some difficult physics (atomic physics) explaining the birth of galaxy and so on. We were able to understand it cuz we did those stuffs in class. For children maybe not so much. However, the place is well made for young people. They got mini-games, beautiful graphics, and very, very visual decorations throughout the buildings. They cover pretty much every thing non-physicist would be able to comprehend. For example: the atoms, spaceships, solar system and the telescope. For us the main highlight was the movie show about dark-matter (they got 4 shows in total ). They made it so realistic that i felt it was real (haha cliché). Even though you will probably stay less than an hour (not including the movie show),but totally worth the money. Edits: Grammar

Space Place was tremendously fun, lots of activities showing you things about The Big Bang, planets, solar systems & galaxies. While exploring the building we found a room presenting a gigantic telescope that was used to see other galaxies. We also got to play a few video games showing us facts about things like gravity, other suns, stars and also telling us about red giants and dwarf stars. My favourite thing overall was probably the show, teaching us about Dynamic Climate, we were shown the Milky Way constellation. In the show it was presented on a big screen on the roof that (before the show started) was going through colours. After the show we also got to go onto the Cable Car which was close by and another place close by is the Botanical Gardens. Overall the Space Place was a extremely fun place to go to checking out all the activities and watching the show.

Located inside the Botanical Garden. For general admission (without Planetarium Screening), then the best option is to buy the combo ticket with the Cable Car online via the Cable Car website. For all inclusive ticket, buy online with the Space Place website in advance as the screening tends to sold out especially during weekend and holidays. The place did open everyday so check the opening date and time before visit. Also Cable Car closes at 7pm so if you are planning for late Planetarium Screening, you should drive. On street parking is very limited and Wilson Parking is expensive. Inside staff is very friendly. Planetarium Screening is highly recommended with last 10-15 min of live show to view the southern sky (live commentary but watching on screen).

Sights @ Space Place At Carter Observatory. . Housing the Thomas Cooke Telescope, the main telescope used in astronomical research studies of the Southern constellations, visitors can also participate in scheduled night sky viewings. . The museum features interactive exhibits and galleries that showcase the origin and scale of our solar system, and the wider universe. It includes a feature of the Maori people's interpretation and navigation using the stars. . There's also a fully immersive digital planetarium, which currently tells the historical story of Pasifika and European navigation to Aotearoa (New Zealand).

Beware there is no parking at Space Place! There are only mobility parks at the front door of Space Place. When using Google maps for navigation it's best to look up the cable car museum. There is parking available there and then it's an easy 5min walk through the Botanical Garden to Space Place. The lovely staff member at the front desk gave us a map to find the closest car park. See the attached photo for the map. Loved the telescope viewing of Saturn, even though it was busy and we had to wait a while before we could look through the telescope.
