Awful place full of crooked thieves. The manager being the most crooked. Took an old iMac in and after much wrangling and "inspection", including the scanning of barcodes and cleaning to see the condition of the screen, using of the mouse and keyboard to enter the device and general inspection where they informed me of a price. I was disappointed in how little they were offering so took it across town where cash converters actually offered a little bit less so I took it back to CEX and agreed on a price. They printed a receipt and I left to allow them to keep it overnight to complete inspection. They kept the computer overnight and I arrived close to 5pm the following day. The computer was wrapped in bubble wrap and accessories were in a box. They couldn't proceed as they needed my apple password to enter the device and format the hard drive. They needed to also install new op software so I had to leave again for another two hours. When I returned, the manager, Gonzalo declared I had a problem. They have just noticed the keyboard was German and they couldn’t buy it. They then tried to bring me down in price because they didn’t notice the keyboard despite having formatted my drive and now rendering my computer in my eyes, completely useless as all of my photos and pertinent data had been deleted. I had come to terms with losing this information for the agreed price, but for the purpose of this argument, I was not allowing this crook to try and squirm out of his own error at my own expense because naturally I have all this information on my iBook anyway 😂. So Gonzalo tried to say hey man, are you really going to do this over a few euros and I was like you are damn straight. I asked to see the manager to which he replied was he. I then stated that I had a receipt and he was in custody of my device and that I was dissatisfied. I was not going to take the device and I wanted to make a complaint and escalate this further. He then started acting like manuel from fawlty towers. Everything was now very Spanish and difficult to understand. He dumped a massive folder in front of me, “hokay, ju wanna do dees, hokay” hands proffered in typical Iberian fashion, his goofy curly hair-do springing about as his head bobbled in frustration. So anyway, yeah, I stood my ground, they met my demanded price and I kept the keyboard. These guys are creepy and completely dishonest. Do yourself a favour and go to cash converters or GAME, at least these guys have integrity. All I wanted was for this guy to acknowledge his mistake but he was arrogant and insulting and refused to be reasonable when clearly he was at fault every step of the way. His glasses are thick enough so it’s really hard to understand how he thinks that “hi didint thee eeet” is an excuse and that the client who had made essentially a contractual agreement in honest faith should be expected to pick up the tab after this guy had irreversibly altered this device. He knew he didn’t stand a chance in court so he crumpled like his mommas undies in a nasty bodega bathroom stall. Cheers CEX, you’ve shown your true colours. Advice to any, go elsewhere and if they are ripping you off, escalate and stand...
Me siento estafado y absolutamente decepcionado.
Read moreCex. Discount store with a trade-in options for games and electronics. They also buy your stuff if you are ready to part with them for almost nothing. Kinda overpriced for what they are. Very low trading-in credit and extremely high profit margin. Used to trade in my old games to Cex in UK, as I remember the trade-in payout was better there. Three stars because of they test the used items they sell and give a free guarantee so you can have some peace of mind. Kudos for that. Also friendly and...
