Went here twice during our stay in Benalmádena and we were very satisfied on both occasions. Sitting on the terrace gives you lovely views of the ocean and opportunities to catch some sun. We took their tapas deal - you choose 3 from the €2.20 menu and one from the €3.50 menu for only €9. We also took advantage of their Happy Hour where you get two cocktails for €7.50 from 15:00 to 19:00 - keep in mind though that mojitos are not included in this deal. We definitely loved the Peruvian chicken causa, the calamari, the crunchy cod pieces with tartar sauce, the meatballs with tomato and paprika sauce, the patatas bravas and the smoked salmon with red onion and truffle mayo. We hung out for quite a while on both occasions, so much so, that we indulged in some spicy chicken wings too which were soooo good! I would definitely come here if I were in the area again. Everything was perfect and all the staff (Vanessa!) were so friendly and helpful. Take note they are closed on Tuesdays (this is until June 1st according to their board that they had hanging on display). I imagine in peak season it would be very busy so I would recommend making a reservation if you don’t want to miss out. Thank you South Beach!!

Nice discovery 'above' the beaten track! You have to climb up the stairs to find it, so look up when you walk past. Found it on google maps and the reviews were right, really nice food :-) Because of the menu items, I suspect a Dutch owner, with either a Peruvian partner or Chef :-) It has nice surprising menu items which taste really good. We had a few tapas, that was a good deal they offer. The Hoisin Duck burger is really nice, we love duck. The spicy chorizo is good too, didn't really need the aioli that came with it. The goat cheese with mango was a surprising combo according to my girlfriend, but she liked it. The pulled pork with sweet potatoes had a nice flavor too, the only thing was, the fries got soggy this way (that's a thing in spain almost everywhere we go). Definitely a spot we've put on our list, for when we're in the neighbourhood.

Great little tapas bar overlooking the beach. We stumbled on South Beach Restobar completely by accident while out for a walk along the beach promenade. We were shown to a table by one of the very friendly staff and enjoyed an unobstructed view over the beach. From our table we experienced the most magnificent moonrise we have ever seen, whilst drinking our delicious cocktails. We decided to have the tapas special, which was any six tapas and a bottle of house wine. Portions were generous and extremely tasty. My favourites were the pulled beef pie and the hoisin duck pie. The included white wine was also considerably better than we expected and all outstanding value at €28. We returned the following night, but unfortunately they are closed on a Tuesday. Well done South Beach Restobar, you are definitely on our list for a return visit...

A group of eight of us went in after dinner for a few cocktails. The staff were initially accommodating, pushing a couple of tables together for us — and unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.

Seven of us ordered margaritas — hardly an obscure choice, and between us we’ve enjoyed them in countless bars across the world. They took about ten minutes to arrive, which we could have overlooked if they’d been worth the wait. Instead, we were met with chaos. Half were served in the wrong glassware, the rest looked like they’d been poured at random, each one a different quantity. Presentation aside, the real disaster came with the first sip.

They were warm — unmistakably unshaken — and rimmed with cheap table salt rather than proper sea salt. The balance was so far off that every drink tasted like straight lime juice. “Undrinkable” isn’t an exaggeration.

Still, trying to make the best of a bad situation, we asked for some lemonade to at least soften the sharpness. That request was ignored for 15 minutes until one of our group eventually fetched it from the bar herself. It didn’t help. We decided to settle up and move on.

At the bar, two of us politely explained to the waitress that the drinks were undrinkable but that we were happy to pay. She rolled her eyes, muttered something to another waitress, and walked off without acknowledging us, muttering for the manager.

When the manager appeared, we repeated ourselves calmly — willing to pay, but the drinks were genuinely awful. His response? “You don’t know what a margarita is.”

It would have been laughable if it weren’t so rude. We suggested he have his staff make him the same drink so he could taste it for himself, but he ignored that and doubled down, claiming margaritas are “supposed to be warm” and that “cheap table salt makes them better.”

After a long and unnecessary back-and-forth, he begrudgingly offered a discount, and we left — or tried to. Two of our group, waiting by the restroom, overheard the manager and two staff members loudly mocking us, assuming we couldn’t understand them. According to them, “the foreigners don’t know how to make a margarita.”

So to summarise: awful drinks, shockingly unprofessional staff, and a manager who clearly believes arrogance counts as expertise. A real shame, as it was early in the night and we’d planned to stay for several rounds — something the next bar was more than happy to accommodate with excellent margaritas and actual hospitality.

And in case the manager ever stumbles across this review — here’s a free training aid for your next staff meeting:

A proper margarita recipe: 50 ml good-quality tequila blanco 25 ml fresh lime juice (freshly squeezed) 20 ml orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec) 10 ml agave syrup Shake with ice, strain, and serve cold in a salted glass rimmed with sea salt — not whatever comes out of your...
