This is a beautiful and historical venue near the coast of Cadiz with affordable prices.
However the organizers lack common sense.
You have to reserve in advance, and the show starts officially at 22:00 and realistically at 22:30, but you have to be there at 21:15 regardless, waiting for more than an hour at an uncomfortable table with odd, too bright lighting. The room resonates a lot, the laughter and loud conversations make this an uncomfortable wait.
You can get food and beverage while waiting. You have to go get it yourself and they provide a metal tray so you can bring it to your table, but it is quite a walk, beware not to fall down and spill while making your way through the tables - almost happened to me.
There is not enough love put into the food and beverages. For instance, the tinto de verano comes straight from the cheapest supermarket bottle.
To the organizers: just accept pre-paid reservations, and let people come 30 minutes before the show be punctual with the actual start of the show change the lighting to something more warm and inviting you use a beautiful space, honor it with better food/beverages
I will not come back to this venue anytime soon, perhaps in a couple years to see if anything changed or if someone really famous I want to see plays there.
(As a side, non-grading comment, the show itself yesterday was not very good. I left with the impression that Flamenco was not there, something was missing from both the bailaora and the musicians. Not very inspired and did not take many risks. But people did a standing ovation, hence I'm not...
Read moreGreat place to see flamenco! We attended a show called "2 FLAMENCAS" on a Saturday. The price was 8€, the show started at 10 p.m. and lasted about 2 hours with a break. We felt like we were the only tourists in a crowd of locals. Obviously, the atmosphere was way better than at the typical tourist show. After a little while, you'll naturally know when to say ¡Olé!. We were actually quite disappointed with the show for a long while, because it was nothing about dancing. But at the end of the show though, every single artist of the show improvised a short demonstration of flamenco dance ... we loved it! We also had the chance to speak with one of the musicians after the show, and he was happy to take some time to share his passion with us. Very interesting. I would recommend one thing there if you come as a tourist: come early to buy your ticket, and ask about the show and about the history of the place. Anyway, don't miss this place if you'd like to...
Read moreWhat an amazing evening! Only €5 for a show we will never forget! We have been to many places to see flamenco before and for me this place is by far the best!! If you are in Cadiz visit La Perla!! We did not make a reservation but arrived just after 9pm thinking this was plenty of time in advance but we were struggling already for seating not reserved by local members. Very luckily we were invited to sit with non other than 2 patrons that had been involved for years. With our limited Spanish they explained about the renovations and the history, we had a full tour, went back stage and met the performers in the interval. What a welcoming club with genuinely kind and passionate people. Dancer was Ana Gonzalez and singer El Canete de Barbate....both experienced professionals full of emotion and talent! Guitarist Jaime de la Island...
