After the conquest of the city, Fernando III donated the land in the Axerquía area to the Dominicans , ratifying the concession in 1241 through a privilege in which he established: I give and grant you that place in Córdoba, with its belongings where the monastery is, with everything that the friars had as a donation from me and with a third of the water that flows at the foot of the wall and near the barbican between the fence and the almedina. ... Ferdinand III of Castile The extent of the land was such that the Dominicans were able to build a large building and endow it with an orchard known as Almesa, for whose irrigation the water granted by the king was used. The first constructions were dedicated to housing and then the church was erected whose work culminated in the 15th century. Later, new constructions were added and the previous ones were reformed.

Nice and very old Church in Córdoba. The historical architecture and intricate details make it a must-visit. The serene atmosphere inside the church provides a peaceful escape. Whether you're a history enthusiast or just seeking a quiet moment, this place is worth exploring."

Free to visit when open, donations appreciated. Incredibly intricate facade archway front that you walk through from the street down to the church. It's always breathtaking to see the architecture. A quiet solace from the busy streets

Part of the Fernandine churches included within La Mequita ticket. This is a very austere looking church from both the outside and interior. The best part is the ceiling is decorated in Mudejar style.

Its main call to fame is that it has apparently the best preserved bell...
