Ideally situated and charming hotel
Within easy walking distance of all the main attractions, the hotel is built round two beautiful patios. You felt you were staying in an aristocrat's home.
TIP 1 Try to get room 103 or 104, or possibly their equivalent on upper floors
TIP 2 If travelling by car, try to arrive by 1 pm.
TIP 3 Be careful about ordering bar snacks!
On arrival, after the somewhat languid and unfriendly "welcome" from Reception, your first sight is of the lovely interior patio, roofed over with glass, that acts as the hotel lounge. Unheated, so a tad chilly when the outside temperature is unexpectedly low, but extremely attractive.
Our room - 104 - looked over the other patio, with orange trees and outdoor seating. Very quiet as away from the street. It was very spacious, extremely well furnished, and the large bathroom was well equipped too. From the emergency exit hotel plan, we could see that rooms varied enormously in size, and there have been comments about cramped rooms. Not ours! Its listed price was €499 per night, we paid just €138 for TWO nights on a special off-peak offer on the internet. You won't get that in May when the Festival of Patios is on!
If arriving by car, pray that there is a space in the street outside, pop in to leave your suitcase, check in, and get a map and key for the multi-storey car-park where the Eurostars chain has spaces (paying) for guests of its 4 Cordoba hotels. There are not that many spaces, and you cannot pre-book, so arrive by 1 pm. It's about 15 minutes walk away, and seemed secure.
There is no restaurant, but the bar serves snacks in the evening. Take care when ordering. We ordered a potato omelette snack (un pincho de tortilla) and a Caesar salad. The salad came in an enormous bowl, family-sized, and the omelette was two whole tortillas cut up into bite-sized pieces. What had seemed like normal hotel prices suddenly became extremely cheap food.
The hotel staff generally were smiley and pleasant, but Reception were a little cool. For example, every time we walked through the Reception area, heels clicking on the marble floors and passing within 5 feet of the desk, they kept their eyes rigorously down on their paperwork or computer screen; it could hardly have cost them a few seconds of lost time to look up and smile instead of ignoring us. There was also too much chatting about a colleague's pregnancy instead of stopping to deal with customers.
This was the only minor drawback to...

Read moreI don't appreciate being deceived, and it was possible would have given lower than one star. We were opposite the coach and train station in Cordoba and needed somewhere centrally based twenty second October 20.
Having looked at several hotels, we opted for Eurostars Patios Cordoba as it claimed to be a four star rated hotel, two hundred metres from the centre at forty five pounds a night and also had parking, wi fi etc.
After around forty five minutes driving through heavy rain, we came to some narrow streets and hadn't even noticed it was the hotel.
We were told at the desk that we could only stop fifteen minutes before the police would ticket the car, and had to drive another five to ten minutes to get a park which, we was doubting the male reception, with good reason because the park was a public parking facility. It took twenty minutes to walk back to the hotel where a further four euro fifty for tax was added to the nightly rate.
There was no porter, no courtesy water, coffee/tea/milk/sugar etc. The free wi-fi was accessed via another website, and never worked. The powerpoint was in disrepair, and there were no iron. Yet they claimed they were a four star establishment. I have seen far better at two star rated accommodations.
On leaving the following morning to pick up the car, fifteen euros was required to retrieve the car from the public park. Yet
I find it hard to believe the other reviewers were stopping at the same hotel if they were not written by the hotel staff themselves. This kind of advertising would be seen as misleading in the U.K, and most places. I do not wish anything from Booking.com, but would suggest they place a mystery shopper at this and other hotels before endorsing them. €45 (nightly rate advertised). €4.50 tax. €15 (public car park)....
