Telesforo Bravo Visitor Center — Attraction in La Orotava

I really enjoyed our look around this yesterday. I think I was expecting more of a 'museum' feel but it was really interesting, even as a visitor centre (it's surprisingly large, most information is on panels and screens, rather than say exhibits with objects to look at - although there are a few). It's definitely worth a visit if you want to learn more about the discovery and study of Tenerife and Tiede. If you're going up Tiede or into the park I would certainly recommend going in to learn more about it...

Highly informative about the early explorers to Tenerife. Focus on flora and fauna also volcanoes. Excellent facilty- well worth a visit. The town of La Orotavia is a charming place with some buildings having the lovely carved balconies, typical of the Canaries. This style of building comes from the Spanish settlers who decided to build a grand colonial town here as there are many water springs on the hillsides. Crafts - such as embroidery,pottery etc plentiful....

The Centro de visitantes is superbly designed, and deeply engages the visitor with video, pictures and sculptures of its culture and history. For us, a highlight was a series of video enactments by an actor in the character of Humboldt, the geographic scientist who spent time in Tenerife.
