3 stars is being polite. Garbage strewn, poorly maintained infrastructure, with the worst part being well made repairs sitting beside areas completely not addressed. It just demonstrates the city happy with patch jobs instead of a proper repair and rethink. Washrooms are at least available however they are not inviting. Water quality is always horrible with visible notes of boats poo discharge in places when the tide is flat. 3 stars as they do make an effort, especially to include sports venues. More work is needed to find housing options for the many many rough campers and sleepers that frequent here. More and better washroom and shower / locker facilities needed. Public water fountains and emplaced shaded areas both for the general public and the handicapped and elderly should be here. Access to beach areas and facilities is severely limited to those with times two working legs. Full time 24hr lifeguards, washrooms presence should be here including at 3 points start middle and end of the beach area. This would be jobs for citizens and help for those attracted to the area for rough sleeping to access common basic facilities late at night. Consideration should be given to have dignified city tents & an alternative sight and transport for rough sleepers. Not the tractor and water cannon to wash the sidewalks each evening to drive people away at the earliest hours. Do better Las Palmas - point to note - do better Las Palmas including enforcement of illegal parking and street paint etc. Perhaps if you employed people to do these jobs you would have the money, safety and balanced enforcement in the city. Don't forget Engineering - patch jobs are better then no jobs but seriously was it too difficult to have the same construction crew that remade the bike path not continue to work on painting and washrooms...

lots of homeless living here in make shift camps... feel sorry for them of course but certainly not an attractive environment for a family day out on the beach... zero shops or facilities open and whole place is run down... directly opposite the Oil Rig repair docks and lots of boats moored up so the water is also not attractive as a safe swim option... was windy as hell too when I went (Las Canteras had no wind at the time)... so also a wind trap... can't understand how this gets anything above a 1 star review when you have Las Canteras so nearby which is a true 5 star beach... totally neglected area that needs a complete regeneration.

UPDATE!!! SEPTEMBER 2023
So I came here again on a nice sunny day in September. My experience was much better this time. No homeless camps and facilities were open! The sandy beach was nice and the sea was calm and lovely to swim at high water. I swam up to the marina staircase and swam with the fishes. My view of this has changed for the better - I'd give this a 4 Star Review...
Read moreThe beach gets two stars as Las Canteras beach is close by and a way better choice if you ask me. It's nice to have a view on some ships in the harbour and the beach is not crowded, so playing sports is suitable. On the other hand it seems that homeless people are staying here on a regular basis in tents (not very inviting to come there early morning or when it's getting dark). The water seems pretty still (not enough current and hence bad water quality?) and the GC-1 road is practically at the beach, which makes it...
