Marisquería Plaza Beach — Restaurant in Málaga

NOT A PLACE FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR!

We’re on a multi-day euro trip and we’ve been to several restaurants in several cities and enjoyed each. This place was VERY BIASED IN THEIR TREATMENT OF US as people of color!

There’s a man & woman serving customers; the woman approaches the table, asking what we wanted in spanish, then leaves when we asked a question, never to return.

The man finally comes over but is VERY SHORT & dismissive with his answers. He did NOT want to help us!!!

We ordered the same main dish (grilled shrimp) but different side dishes are including a salad. He asked if she wanted the sales before hand or with the main dish, she said WITH. The side dishes were not served with the main dish.

NO ONE ever came by to ask if we liked the food or wanted anything else. They delivered the fish and left!

Two German couples sat next to us well after we ordered and the man visited their table twice as they were eating. There were 3 women sitting on the other side of us and the woman checked on them constantly!

When we were almost done with the shrimp, the woman walked by and we asked about the side dishes. She again walked off and the man came over and said, she does not understand english.

Moments later she checked on the German Couples and SPOKE IN ENGLISH 🤷🏾!!

Four plates of food were prepared for the people who arrived well AFTER us before our side dishes were made! I know this because it’s an open restaurant and i could see the cook working!

Not wanting to create an issue we ate the food but were ignored when we asked WHY the sides were not served with the main dish!

BOTH OF US are well traveled, internationally and it was made clear to us, by their actions, they did not want...

They girl who was handling the seating was 5/5, she was friendly, helpful and very professional. The service started out decent when she seated us and called over the waiter. Multiple things they were already out of (really out of Seafood paella if you are a Spanish seafood restaurant?!?!?!) at 4:00 in the afternoon for a restaurant that is open until midnight on a Saturday night. So we readjusted our thoughts of what we wanted, The first thing fried calamari was good and fresh very little seasoning but good. 4/5 next Milanese chicken with cooked tomato sauce was 2/5 over cooked and sauce not good, grated cheese was not slightly melted just tossed on so the dish was not very hot at all. Salad was decent. Wait staff never came by to check on our orders if ok or if we needed drinks refilled!?!? Finished dinner somewhat disappointed but decided to order dessert. To give it a try, big mistake! Ordered a coffee with milk and an organic tea with a Cheese Tarta ( cheese cake) and they were out of Arroz con leche (milk rice pudding, really again a Spanish restaurant out of a specialty dish?) waiting 15 minutes for that so asked for our drinks and dessert, they brought out the drinks but another 10 minutes no cheese cake! Asked and 10 minutes to plate a slice of cheese cake! It seems this restaurant caters more to the local regulars and any unknown is a very last choice to serve! Honestly I may try again but wait staff appear to not really care about customer service just the local regulars. They were waited on very nicely the entire time we were there. I can honestly recommend to try other seafood restaurants in the city that service and food are 5/5. This was a hard...

Ordered 2 steaks for 26 euros each. 1/4 was a grease, 1/4 not edible, so we only could eat 1/2 of steak each... Steaks weren't even medium cooked, we had to ask the service to cook it more and it took more than 10 minutes just to make it "ok". The fries were ok, but we had to season the salad by ourselves.. For the price of 26€ per person it was awful! The bread for the apéritif was dry, couldn't even eat half of that.. When we spoke about it to the service they didn't even excuse themselves for the inconvinience. They didn't even propose something to keep the face of the restaurant.
