Up above and (mostly) out of reach from the assault of tourists below, sits this hidden gem. The first and last place we dined in Tossa de Mar, with many times in between.
You will likely need to wait if you haven't booked in advance but don't let this put you off. The line will move fast thanks to the exceptional wait service here. Order yourself a drink, sit on the stone benches, and enjoy the last heat from the sun. Before your drinks finished you'll be whisked off to your table. If not you're on holiday, uno mas!
Food wise I could eat here every night and not get sick of it. This is extremely unusual for me but this is one of the rare places where I feel like I'm eating from someone's home kitchen. The tapas are rustic, and served as they should be without adding unneeded flare to appease tourists. Our favorites were the salted cod in red peppers, meatballs, and chorizo cooked in cider. Although anything you order, you really can't go wrong! Room for dessert? Try the local selection of cheeses if you have room, they're lovely or the crema catalunya which regretfully I only had once.
Frankly, I envy anyone who gets to enjoy eating here for I'm not sure when I will be lucky...
Read moreThis little place is a hidden gem. Firstly, it's right up in thr grounds of the castle so be prepared for a walk over cobbles and uneven ground. Secondly, it's small so be prepared to book in advance or wait on the street (there's a bench close by and people sit on the wall too). If you do need to wait you can take in the wonderful view of tossa from the viewing platform close by. To the food; a lovely selection of fish, meat and vegetable tapas dishes which were are delicious and freshly made (they come out as they are ready, rather than altogether). Staff were lovely and accommodating. Best seat in the house is the little seat on the wall behind the restaurant where you can watch all the walkers coming down from the castle looking on jealously at your food. Without a doubt the best tapas...
Read moreHands down the best place we‘ve eaten at in Tossa. The food is excellent, the wine good and the waiters lovely and accommodating. The overall ambient on our evening there was wonderful. The restaurant lies on a little side street within the castle area and it has so much character. You can’t book a table but our wait was only 10 minutes and was absolutely worth it! We throughly enjoyed everything we ordered, in particular the potatoes with aioli, and the goat’s cheese ‘delight’ tapas. For dessert we had the creme Catalan (the only one I have tasted and really enjoyed) and little almond biscotti with moscatel wine. Simply👌🏼Would give it 6 out of 5 starts...
