Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe — Attraction in Valencia

My opinion on whether or not you should visit is devided on if you're an experienced or inexperienced traveler which i will detail below as well as general information.

General: Ticket was 9 EUR The museum is on 3 levels with a lot of temporary exhibits, so be sure to check which ones are active on their websites as some of the images here are of old exhibits that might not be present anymore, this should at least give you an idea of what to expect and if the content would be of interest to you. There are many interactable elements which are especially great if you're going with kids but don't be shy to interact with them as well, you'll have more fun. There is a small exhibit where people can watch baby chicks hatch which i found very disturbing, it felt very random and out of place for a museum like this, the hatchery was very small with people constantly tapping on the glass ignoring obvious signs not to do that. The chicks looked stressed and it felt like animal torture, it would be better for everyone if they removed it completely.

Inexperienced: If you haven't yet had many chances to visit other science museums you should definitely go, it will be a fun experience and it's a good way to keep you entertained, especially if you're going with kids. It doesn't cost too much so it's decent value for money.

Experienced: If you've been to many other science museums, this one is simply disappointing. Compared to how the building looks from the outside, it felt like they spend all the money on the building and forgot they had to invest on the inside as well. On the first floor, there are some glass cases containing chick eggs that are about to hatch. This area is intended for children, where they can observe the hatching process up close. However, there is no one ensuring that the chicks are born in a calm environment—in fact, the children tend to bang on the glass. When I asked at the reception who is responsible for those animals, I was told that it’s up to the parents to make sure their children behave. They literally said that if they or their colleagues had intervened, the children’s parents might have gotten upset with them—but then immediately told me that if I had seen a child banging on the glass, I should have intervened myself, even though I have no authority to do so.

I find this an enormous act of shirking responsibility. The responsibility for those animals lies with whoever placed them in that space, so one would expect the cases to be properly monitored and strict rules enforced—for both adults and children. Children, instead of believing that science gives them the right to decide over any life, should learn to respect that life first.
