Statue of Shiva is mesmerizing. It humbles you with its giant structure. Below the statue of shiva - there are Bhukailas caves where history of Murudeshwar is spoken through a speaker and various sculptures are depicting the scenes. Since one can enter at any point of time and background music is also too high, it's difficult to follow the voiceover of the story. It would've been great had a small write up is put in front of each visual. Also, the voice over seem to be only in English which might not be understandable for sizeable population. Statue on close view appears to be not well maintained. There are areas where there are cracks and dents. Given the divine nature of the place, it would be great to maintain the structures well so that these can be sustained for longer durations. Shiva statue, temple and raaja gopura are at one place and can be covered in one go. There would be entrance fee for four wheelers entering the premises

The world's second-tallest Lord Shiva statue, the town lies on the coast of the Arabian Sea and is also famous for the Murudeshwar Temple. This temple is built on the Kanduka Hill which is surrounded on three sides by the waters of the Arabian Sea. It is dedicated to Bhagwan Shiv, and a 20-storied gopura is constructed at the temple. The temple authorities have installed a lift that provides a breath-taking view of the 123-feet Lord Shiva idol from the top of the Raja gopura. Below Lord Shiva statue there is an artificial cave, where you can find magnificent sculpture. These Sculptures narrate the story of Aatmalinga - How Ravana took the AatmaLinga from Lord Shiva and what made him to throw the AatmaLinga. This is narrated by a sound and light show. You can move seeing each of the sculptures and listening to the story. You can enter this cave by paying a small entry fee.

Recently, I was fortunate to visit the magnificent Murudeshwar Temple, a hidden gem on the Karnataka coast. The centerpiece of this sacred site is a colossal 123-foot statue of Lord Shiva, overlooking the tranquil Arabian Sea. I was mesmerized by the intricate details of the statue and the stunning backdrop of the ocean. The temple complex also houses a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and other deities. After exploring the temple, I spent some time relaxing on the pristine Murudeshwar Beach. The soft sands and gentle waves were the perfect way to unwind and soak up the sun. I also enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch at one of the local restaurants.

Murudeshwar Shiva temple is ancient Hindu temple devoted to lord Shiva. There is main temple just after 18 floor high Gopuram. Elevator is available to go to 18th floor for great view. Timings for elevator are 8:00am to 6:00 pm. After Gopuram left side is main garbhgrah and complex has Ganesha temple, golden chariot and navgrah temple on right side. Behind the main temple there is a massive 123 feet tall lord Shiva statue in meditation position. There are multiple other statue like Big Nandi, lord Shiva with Ravan, another from Krishna Arjun and a big sun. There are steps to go till the statue and small museum representing the story behind this temple.

It is the second largest Shiva statue in the world(Largest is Kailashnath Mahadev Statue in Nepal). It is the statue of Lord Shiva in a meditation pose. It is Surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides. One Gopuram (Tower) is located near the statue, which has around 18 floors. We can enjoy the entire panoramic view from the top of this building. Best time to visit is evening. There is beach around where you can have an amazing evening. There are many restaurants for variety of food and hotel to stay overnight . The view at night is very spectacular. Good place to spend time with family and friends.
