Disastrous Impact of the City Center Exhibition Square
The newly established exhibition square in the heart of the city has proven to be nothing short of a nightmare for local residents. While the idea of a central hub for cultural and commercial events sounds appealing in theory, the execution has been severely lacking in consideration for those living nearby.
First and foremost, every time an exhibition is held, the already scarce parking options for residents vanish completely. The organizers not only fail to provide additional parking solutions but also have the audacity to close off existing parking spaces. This leaves residents who are returning from work with no choice but to spend up to two hours driving around in search of a place to park their cars. This is not just inconvenient; it’s outright disrespectful to the people who call this area home.
The situation becomes even more infuriating when considering the constant influx of visitors who flood the area during events. These visitors often park illegally or in reserved spots, further exacerbating the problem. Despite numerous complaints, there seems to be no enforcement of parking regulations, nor any efforts to prioritize the needs of local residents.
The lack of foresight and planning by the city officials and event organizers is glaringly obvious. A proper solution, such as constructing a dedicated parking facility or providing shuttle services for visitors, could alleviate the strain on residential parking. However, such measures have not been taken, indicating a complete disregard for the well-being and convenience of the local community.
In conclusion, the exhibition square, rather than being a source of pride for the city, has become a symbol of poor planning and neglect. Until significant changes are made to address the parking chaos and respect the needs of local residents, it will remain a blight...
Read moreThe Exhibition Center Basel was the heart of the Eurovision Village during our visit, and it was an exceptionally well-organized and enjoyable space for fans. The center housed two main halls that perfectly catered to the large crowds. One hall was dedicated to sponsors and a diverse food court, offering a wide range of options to satisfy everyone's tastes. From here, you could easily access the other hall, which featured a large stage and hosted various Eurovision-related events and performances throughout the day. We spent time at the Exhibition Center on both Friday and Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed the program on offer. The halls are impressively spacious, easily accommodating the large number of visitors without feeling cramped. The flow between the different areas was smooth, and the overall organization was truly top-notch. Basel did an outstanding job in setting up the Eurovision Village at the Exhibition Center. It was a fantastic place to soak up the Eurovision atmosphere, enjoy the entertainment, and connect with other fans. A big well done to Basel for such a successful and...
Read moreConsidering that most guests pay around 50 francs for admission, I find it unacceptable that the bathrooms were not properly maintained throughout the day. They were already in poor condition by the morning, and by midday, the situation had become truly unhygienic.
With a budget of this scale, I cannot understand why professional cleaning staff were not hired to ensure a basic standard of hygiene. The condition of the bathrooms reflects directly on the reputation of the event—and by extension, on Switzerland itself.
It’s deeply disappointing that such an expensive event would neglect something so essential. I’ve raised this concern before, and I am aware that the blame is often placed on the guests. However, ensuring clean facilities is the responsibility of the organizers.
For this reason, I will not be returning. It is not a question of comfort—it is a question of respect, hygiene, and...
