Oh well, here we go…
Tagliatelle Con Ragu Bolognese The tagliatelle were thin and had a great bite. But the meat in the sauce lacked character and seasoning. The dish felt kinda stale and watery. No umami at all. 3/5
Espresso Top notch, with a nice nutty aftertaste. Good beans roasted well! 4.5/5
Tiramisu That was some kind of cruel joke… no coffee flavours whatsoever. The mascarpone was nice and creamy but again pretty bland. The biscuits were dry and not soaked as expected. 1/5
Service Semi-Attentive but patient and very friendly on a impersonal level. 4/5
Price Too steep for what you get. Much better options in walking distances. 2/5
Ambience This strange bougie hipster aesthetics. Not mine, but the gold standard for a lot of those slightly overpriced eateries. They aaaaabdolutely need someone to curate the playlist, as the sound never really fit the place and was pretty distracting. 3/5
Would I go there again? Not really. I’d try to convince a group to dine somewhere else. Ok for a glass of wine. But better options for...
Read moreLook friends, pasta is supposed to be simple and delicious. You take the simplest of ingredients and ELEVATE THEM! Unfortunately, in this beautiful newly appointed space you’re going to receive under seasoned, overpriced pasta served by untrained staff.
Our order: 2 salads, a frito misto, 2 pasta dishes (cimi di rapa and ossobuco) and a bottle of wine.
The Good: The frito misto was well cooked, light and not greasy, but like everything it needed some seasoning. The wine (Roma) was decent, but definitely overpriced even by normal Basel restaurant standards. (Vivino = 18chf | Here = 54chf)
The BAD: Lack of seasoning and skill. The ossobuco meat had been sliced into small cubes and there was almost no flavor. Properly cooked this type of meat should fall apart after being braised in a rich and flavorful red wine reduction.
This place is currently a sad hot dumpster fire and a far reach from...
Read moreit seems to me that either the people running this place have taken the feedback of too small portions into consideration or customers forgot that this is a city! the pasta portions were apropriate size, delicious, al dente and savory. the staff is italian and english speaking, very friendly and attentive. we (2ppl) spent 130.- for two drinks, two starters, two main, a dessert and an espresso. these are reasonable prices. this is a frequented spot, the food is good quality, so were the drinks.. you will not get this service for much less. the kitchen and waiter staff did a very good job and we will be back for sure. is it exactly like in your italian home town/cooked from your nonna? no, but close and for sure way above all the other places in Basel which serve "italian" food. the only minus point is that the music was too loud for a full restaurant. italian customer approved....
