The museum has some interesting information, but we were unfortunately forced to leave the top floor, which explains the history of the Olympics and is the largest and most interesting, at 5:20 PM even though they told us the museum closed at 6:00 PM. We arrived at 4:45 PM to learn about the history but were forced to go to the lower floors, which contain old uniforms and gear, simulations, and medals, which we were much less interested in. To make matters worse, beginning at 5:15 PM, a group of four staff members followed us through the entire museum telling us we needed to hurry and move along so we could see the other floors. One staff member was repeatedly shouting to everyone that they needed to keep going to see the medals, even though we had no interest in seeing them. She even argued with us when we told her we weren’t told about floors closing early when we bought tickets. The constant harassment by the staff really made it not an enjoyable experience. Make sure to get there by 4 if you want to avoid being herded through the exhibits with staff members reminding you every 5 minutes to keep moving.
I’ve never heard of a museum closing specific floors and following patrons around like children. I would much rather get to choose which exhibits I see in the limited time I have than be yelled at to go see the medals. Visitors are perfectly capable of finding the exit by 6 PM from any floor, as it’s not that big of a museum to begin with. They really need to just close the entire museum at 6 PM, as they advertise, or not admit people after 4 PM, otherwise it’s a complete waste of 20 CHF. There’s also no chronological order between the floors, and you could really see the floors in any order, so their system makes absolutely no sense. Their map was also useless, as it just had the names of the floors. They need to add descriptions of exhibits and highlights on each floor so that people can time their visit...
